Ichibar

We went by for our usual Wednesday Sushi fest on September 1, 2010 and they are closed! I looked through the window and the bar was empty, everything that wasn't nailed down was gone. Don't know what happened but we will miss the place. more

This place stands out in a town that isn't short on sushi restaurants. We sat at the sushi bar, as is the proper way to have sushi, IMO. Service was fantastic and presentation of food was spectacular. Highest recommendation. more

We met Edison when he and partners opened Ichibar in Henderson, NC. We live 30 minutes away and whenever we went out to eat-we went to Ichibar. Edison was English challenged but he understood our delight! He left Henderson with his friend Wen and we cried-literally! We did not enjoy his replacement and several months later we ventured back - willing to have Hibachi-just for something different. Upon arrival found a new chef-good- but better we found out where Edison was! Cary!!!! We could do that, had family in Fuquay-Varina and so visited them (but unbeknowest to them) we were there to visit the new Ichibar. We were greeted by Wen like long lost family and Edison showed off what he had learned while away. I thought I had died and gone to heaven! By the way, on our 2nd visit we walked in on a wine tasting and sushi sampling that knocked our socks off...WOW! Someone is going to have a tough time convincing me to go anywhere else for my sushi! Ichibar is incredible! From the staff, Wen and Amy on floor, to the chefs, Edison and Rocky....wow! I visited this place because I am known as a sushi lover and a co-worker had recommended Ichibar. This place opened only about 2 months ago so I was not surprised I had never heard of it. When I visited with some of my friends, I was not disappointed. The outside looked bland and the location was not that great as it was in the middle of a strip mall but as soon as I stepped inside I was amazed at how spacious and beautifully decorated the interior was. I was first greeted with a koi pond complete with a waterfall and two huge boulders. They also had a full bar with a great selection of cocktails and wine. You can choose to sit at a table, booth, or even at the sushi bar, where you can watch the sushi chefs make the sushi right in front of you. Since I was craving sushi I had the Triangle roll and Ichibar roll, both of which were absolutely delicious and without a doubt the best sushi I've had in a while. One of my friends ordered the beef teriyaki which came to her sizzling hot. I had a bite and although I'm very picky when it comes to beef, this quickly became one of my favorite beef dishes. The sauce was very savory and not too sweet, just how I like it. The beef was also very moist and tender and you get a huge portion for the price. Overall, I loved my first visit to this place and I plan to come back to try the vast selection of sushi. I highly highly recommend this place to any lover of sushi or asian cuisine! I've tried a bunch of Sushi places in the triangle area and Ichibar was by far some of the best rolls I've I had around here. They had some very creative specialty rolls that were amazing! I highly recommend the Triangle roll and the France Sushi! SO GOOD!!!! Pros: Great Sushi more

I'd give this 4.5 stars actually. It was darn near perfect. The decor inside was beautifully done. The sushi was very well presented and delicious. I will definitely be going back! I was just by myself at lunch, but I'd love to go back with a group of friends at night. There are nice big booths and lots of ambiance! I had the Triangle roll, which actually is wrapped in a pink soy ginger paper, instead of traditional seaweed. Different and yummy! more
