great food and server! 7/11/2011

I have been tried a lot of different Japanese restaurant with my husband, and we love this place. the food is always great, the server are friendly and entertainment especially the guy name Taka, the price is affordable for sushi! We love to celebrate our birthday in here because it is a best place to do it. We got our picture with the whole party, fruit boat, and lucky fortune wheel!!! We won $30 last time for our birthday! we were so happy about it!! the best thing about this restaurant is their V.I.P membership card because you get a lot of benefits from it lke discount, coupon, and even gift certificate!! We love and recommend this place to people! Come and try the food by yourself, do not listen to other comments! more

The Finest Hibachi Steakhouse! 6/16/2011

I went to Ichiban a couple days ago and I must say that this has to be the best Hibachi Steakhouse in the area! What I loved most was the fantastic mood that was set in the restaurant. I was on a date that was set up by mutual friends, and I was worried that it would just be extremely awkward. We started off with drinks at the bar, which were delicious! The bartender was extremely friendly and had us talking and laughing the whole time. We moved to a hibachi table after a while and ordered some appetizers and our meal. The waitress was so polite and friendly while also never keeping us waiting. The restaurant gives free soup and salad with the hibachi meal and it was amazing. I was a bit reluctant to try the salad dressing, which was a ginger sauce, but I ended up loving it! The gyoza I got as an appetizer was very fulling and well worth the cheap price. My favorite part by far was the hibachi show! Our chef was hilarious and kept our whole table entertained the entire time. But the food, I cannot even describe how delicious it was. I ordered the teriyaki steak and shrimp with fried rice and received an enormous amount of food. I was so disappointed I couldn't finish it all because it was one of the best meals I had ever had. What was also great, was that another group at our hibachi table had a birthday. I got information about it before I left, but the restaurant does birthday celebrations for people who come anytime between the week before or after their birthday. The waiters brought out a big boat of fruit and a hat for the birthday girl while another waiter hit a gong. They sang happy birthday and took a picture of the whole family. Ichiban even has this wheel of fortune that you can spin to win prizes! (I think the girl had to show them her id for her birthday verification.) She won a gift card of 10 dollars and also got the picture that they took. I think this service is amazing and I can't believe they do it for free! I have already made plans with a couple friends for a birthday in July for this reason. But I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to wait till July, so I'll probably end up going again next week. I loved everything from the food to the service! Can't wait to go again! more

I love this place so much i try to go weekly. 6/2/2011

This is one of the best Hibachi grills i ever been to. And i been to over 20 lol. I been to each hibachi grill around the area and so far Ichiban has some of the best waitresses, most charismatic and fun cooks, at great prices. I will Recomend this to everyone and I go about weekly to this establishment. more

BEST Japanese Food!! 1/28/2011

Ichiban Japanese Steakhouse is one of the best restaurants I've been to. The food is always fresh and delicious, no matter what you get on the menu. The employers are always so friendly and give the best service even when the restaurant is extremely busy. They also give guests who have birthdays a free fruit boat along with a spin at the wheel of fortune! (Remember to bring your ID! They ask you for it.) I highly recommend this to anyone who loves Japanese food/sushi!! more

Awesome Sushi! 9/14/2010

I've been coming here for years to get sushi closed to home and I love it! I've been to Japan, so I definitely know what tastes authentic, and Ichiban is pretty much right on! I love their eel and yellow tail nigiri especially. The designer rolls are always fun and delicious if you'd like to try something that isn't raw (very sushi beginner friendly). The udon soups are delicious, and I'm a huge fan of beef negimaki (appetizer). I've never done the hibachi, but everytime I've been, there's always a birthday celebration with the gong. I'm considering coming back for my birthday next year because they have this birthday ""wheel of fortune"" thing that can land you a $20 gift card. :) Pretty sweet.\r \r All in all, I love the sushi here. The prices are great, and I can get a filling amount of food for under $20. I recommend the hibachi for families and big parties, and the table side for sushi lovers or quiet couples. :) more

Best Japanese steakhouse and Suhi around! 7/4/2008

High quality Hibachi steak table, the chef for our table was skilled and entertaining, we had a reall good time. I highly recommend the Sushi section for the ""connoisseur"" or begginer, The Japanese Sushi chef has been at it for over 30 years! A real feel of Japan in the US! Pros: Real Japanase owners, 20 years of experience in the business Cons: ... Can't think of any more

worst japanese i've ever had! 7/4/2008

i don't think that the owners/cooks are really japanese. it's the worst japanese food i've ever had... and not just because i've been to japan and had real japanese food. i mean the worst americanized japanese food i've ever had. \r the atmosphere is nice... but the whole point of going out to eat is to eat! more

Great for couples 2/19/2008

We ate here on a Friday night. It wasn't too crowded. We sat at the Hibachi table. Our food was delicious. Our waitress was so friendly, but not in that forced, annoying way. Our Hibachi chef was entertaining and funny. All of our food was made to perfection and the waitress even suggested some imported Japanese beer to go along with our food. We both ended up trying two different kinds and loving them both. It was, overall, a wonderful time and we will definitely be dining here again. We would definitely recommend! more

good Japanese cuisine 10/20/2007

Fairly decent Japanese cuisine. One of the better places to eat Japanese food in the Lehigh Valley Area. Not as bad as some of the other reviewers have stated. They also have Korean food as well. Pros: Thumbs up more

Worst Japannese food I ever had!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 6/12/2007

Service was very poor but the management team was even worse. For example me and my family was treated very badly. We didn't had a enjoyable eating enviroment due the constant interpetion from the waiter. Due to the constant interpetion me and my family thought this was due to that that they were closingearly but it was not true they just belived that cauasian tippped better than asian american. more

Delicious! 10/6/2006

Everytime I come into the restaurant, I get exactly what I want and expect nothing but the freshest taste. Everyone in the restaurant treat me like family and take my concerns into their own. The bartender is the best, and he's very skilled, as well as the staff. The owner is always present. I love the gong and the fresh fruit boat! I love the sushi, and it's always a fun experience with all the changes of the menu, there is so much to eat! Bonzai! Pros: Student (college discounts w/ card), weekday specials for large crowds Cons: it's not open 24/7 for sushi :P more

Best food, bar and customer service! 6/18/2006

Finally the Lehigh Valley has an authentic, fairly-priced, Japanese restaurant. Not sure what others spoke of with ""cafeteria"" food. Everything is made-to-order, authentic, and DELICIOUS! Wonderful for groups, families, or just a quiet evening for two. The customer service from everyone--the chefs, the bartenders, the wait staff--is excellent & so friendly. We always enjoy a visit to Ichiban. Pros: Beautiful restaurant, excellent food, wonderful staff Cons: None! Just need another one in the Nazareth/Easton more
