I have two (shame on me) terrible experiences with Houska. First time I was charged a lot of money just to be told what needed to be done, which would have involved a whole lot more money. Second time, outrageously over charged for battery installation and Houska recommended thousands of dollars worth of work on vehicle not worth anywhere near that much. I'll never do business here again. more

Houska Automotive Services is great to work with. They always get my daughter and me in whenever we need it. She goes to CSU, and I have also lived in the area for awhile. I have used them since around 2004. They have been wonderful. When my daughter's car breaks down, they will get her in and give her a loaner car. They identify the problem and then call me with the cost. I can tell them to proceed, or we will talk about it. They are always very accommodating. LJ and Dennis have been really good to me and my family. They are honest and are not going to lie to you. They back up their work. If something goes wrong, their work is always guaranteed. My parents went to Houska and I have always taken my cars to Houska. I think they are reliable, trustworthy, and honest. They always do a good job and they stand behind their work. I think one time I had a bad part, which is obviously not their fault, and they had me come right back to replace it. So, they stand behind their work. And, they are very nice. As a woman, I feel very comfortable there. I told them I do not know much about cars, and they do not take advantage of me. They have gone out of their way to accommodate me. They even provide a loner car. When I got a new car, I asked them when I needed to add oil myself in between oil changes, and they told me I could pop in and they would take a look. They are really nice. And, not only is Dennis an honest businessman, he also does a lot of philanthropic work for the PVH foundation, which really impresses me. He actually travels on a moments notice to donate bone marrow, and he is very active in the community. That makes a difference to me. more

Dec. 2010 Took '02 Avalanche for general inspection. They wrote up Brake Master Cylinder & Hydro Boost Pump were leaking. They quoted 5 hours labor ($90 p.h.) for replacement of two co-located parts that an amateur could do in 3 hours. Then they quoted $565 and $849 {respectively} for the two parts, total $1,900. I looked on NAPA website and AC Delco parts are listed at $285. & $426 when I questioned Vince about this he said well: ""we offer a 2 year warranty."" To which I replied: ""Sir, that's like charging me twice for the parts in case I need the warranty.."" He then said I was welcome to pickup the truck cause he had 40 other customers waiting. I did and then called Dellenbach Motors (chevy dealership). They quoted $1,200. for the job and said it would be less if I was willing to use Factory Remanufactured parts.. Houska never offered this! Houska quoted $152. for Fuel Induction and $99. Computer Reprogramming. That included $160. labor (1.8 hours) when both of these jobs can be done simultaneously in 30 -40 minutes. Two other shops in City offer Fuel Induction work at $110. for any vehicle. Mechanic reported vehicle was all time 4x4 and any one who knows Avalanche knows this is NOT correct. He said there was no ""Lube Sticker"" on window. I pointed it out to him and he said Ooops. My Bad. I wouldn't recommend these guys to my enemies let alone my friends. more

The service at Houska Automotive is superior. Their philosophy of customer service and hard work is obvious to all of their customers!!! more

The first time I went to Houska Automotive Services it was more like a family. They talked to me like a friend. They are really reliable, and the service is really good. They are always willing to work with you on any type of problems. I have been here for 7 years, and I have been using Houska for 6 years and have never changed. They have great service. Try them at least once and then decide. For me, I'm hooked. I won't change unless I go to a different state. more

I have been going to Houska Automotive Services for about 2 and half years. Everything has worked out very well, which is why I continue to drive all the way from Denver to Fort Collins to use them. I have a fairly new car, so I have not had a lot of work done there, I simply have not needed it. But, I know the people at Houska Automotive are as conscientious as it is possible to be. Houska Automotive Services, Inc. has been in town forever and I have been using them ever since I got my first car, about 14 years ago. Knowing that they were trustworthy was what made me decide to use their service. They have done everything from tires to alternators for me. They also basically rebuilt an engine for me, and that turned out great. They really know what they're doing and I know that whoever is working on my car is reputable and can get it done right. There are other mechanic shops that may try to cheat you but Houska Automotive never would. I own a business and they work on my business vehicles in addition to my personal vehicles. They do wonderful things for the community as well, including the Halloween Blood Drive and a 5K run that raises money for local organizations. Bryson Baker more

These guys are awesome. I paid less than half the price of a place back in Maryland to get an issue I had with my brakes fixed. These guys are honest and don't just want your money. They will do whatever they can to keep you from spending a fortune. more

I've been taking my car to Houska's for 22 years. The friendly atmosphere when entering put's me at ease, and I have found their work to be excellent. I trust they will do the job right, and know they stand behind their work. more

I began going to Houska Automotive shortly after I moved to Fort Collins in the spring of 2008. The crew there is wonderful ? efficient, thorough, friendly and quick. The techs always take the time to explain what they?re doing, why, and which repairs need to be done right away, and which can wait. An added bonus is that the owners are deeply involved in helping the community. They?ve donated vehicles to Project Self Sufficiency, which supports single parents trying to find employment, contributed to Project Smile, which provides dental care for low-income elementary school students, and once a year they hold a fun run to raise money for a local cancer center and the National Bone Marrow Registry. It?s the best choice in Fort Collins. more

Houska Automotive Services is an honest shop. The employees are knowledgeable and friendly. Whenever we purchase a different vehicle, we take it to Houska to have it checked out because we trust them to do a wonderful job. more

Houska came to my rescue when I was in a dire circumstance. In June 07, I was driving from California to Illinois to say goodbye to my terminally ill brother, when my car broke down in Fort Collins, CO. Triple A towed me to Houska's. When I told them my story at 4 p.m., they immediately put my car up on a rack and started working. They had completely installed a new clutch by 2 p.m. the following day so that I could get back on the road as soon as possible. They provided me with a loaner car so that I could find a motel and get meals. (When I called them to report a problem with the loaner car, they drove a new one to me within 20 minutes of my call.) All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Even though I was in an easy position to be taken advantage of, they charged me a reasonable price for the work done, and even fixed an oil leak at no extra charge while they had access to its source. Houska is a reputable repair shop that guarantees their work. They do used vehicle inspections which is a helpful service. They specialize in Toyotas and other foreign vehicles, but they can fix any brand. They've got a good reputation and a loyal customer base. That says a lot about their consistency. more
