This place has a very sleek and fashionable feel with good tunes, videos and attitude. Not for the beer swigger - more for the well dressed party crowd. Rare find in SA. Pros: Atmosphere, Service, Music more

staying at the Hotel Valencia 6/22/2004

I recently stayed at the Hotel Valencia with a group of friends for a fun weekend at the Riverwalk. Although I haven't stayed at that many luxury hotels quite like the Hotel Valencia they were above and beyond the most friendly and accomodating hotel I have every stayed at. The bellboys were very personable and every employee was very attentive to my and my friends needs. If you want to spend a little more and have a very memorable experience while visiting the Riverwalk I highly recommend the Hotel Valencia!!! Pros: Friendly employees, close to Riverwalk Cons: , no pool or hot tub more

Very stylish, albeit masculine, hotel 6/2/2004

The Valencia is a nice luxury hotel. We had a standard room with two leather club chairs, wooden shutters, modern decor and a very comfy bed with down linens and chocolates on the pillows. Also had great bathrobes, bath linens and Aveda products. Great workout room. Great location right on the River Walk. I didn't how the lobby and hallways were so dark and masculine - red and black. The rooms though modern and tasteful were also too dark so I turned on all the lights. Thin walls, heard street traffic and neighbors at 4am! No pool. If you self-park the garage is 4 blocks away and costs $15 per night. Pros: Stylish rooms, Romantic, Great location Cons: , No pool, No free parking more

Dissappointment! 5/22/2004

The front desk attendant was extermely rude! I ordered room service for first thing in the morning and it never arrived. When the valet pulled my car around to the front and I went to get in... he was nowhere to be found. I had to walk around the place to find him. No one mentioned that if you self-park you must park on the third floor. I nearly got the 'boot' put on my car and stopped the guard in the middle of doing so. The maid service did NOT happen twice daily... it was lucky if it happened once. I was there for business and will NEVER stay here again. The interior of the room was lovely but the windows would not open and there was no pool. It was nice to have the free high-speed internet but the phone on the desk did not work. Presidential Suite 1/5/2004

My husband and I stayed in their only Presidential Suite for our 5th wedding anniversary and LOVED it!! The service was spectacular and the atmosphere was very romantic! We had the best time and are doing it again for Valentines Day. Well worth the money!! Pros: Great Service, Very Romantic, Great Riverwalk view more

a bit deceptive 8/21/2003

This is a very beautiful hotel and very contemporary. It very easily could be picked up and placed in New York City! The service is great. Everyone is very nice and ready to help. Staying here just makes you feel like somebody! But at the same time, the website is a bit deceptive. There is no pool, no sauna, and no coffee shop as advertised. And yes, it is located on the river, but it's a nice walk to get to the popular Riverwalk area. This is a very nice hotel, but not worth the money! Pros: great service, beautiful room, good bar & patio area Cons: overpriced spa, dim lighting all over, long wait with valet more

Frustrating 3/4/2003

Made reservations weeks in advance, called one week before to make sure that the reservation was correct. Did not get reserved room. Comp offers weren't met as originally offered, overcharges and double billing. Valet parking seems to be only option, no notice of that cost. Room service made errors, food good but additional fees make it expensive. Room was beautiful, good bed, nice linens. Since this hotel just opened some things may improve once staff is more experienced. Pros: New, Beautiful Rooms Cons: New, Inexperienced staff, no parking options more
