Musical Rebellion for the Masses 10/4/2007

I check out Hot Topic every now and then to see if there are any new t-shirts of my favorite bands/artists like Morrissey/The Smiths, The Clash, and Tiger Army. This store is a haven for those who are into punk, goth, and alternative rock as well as anime and pirates. The store is small (crowded during the weekends) and dark but has enough lighting so you can see what you're buying. There's only one dressing room, so you'll have to wait to use it. They usually play hardcore music/punk/goth. At one time, they played Notorious B.I.G., which, strangely enough, made me chuckle a bit. The clothing is on the expensive side, especially if you want buy items like a jacket or a corset. I was lucky enough to get a corset on sale for $17! Most of them are usually $42. Most of the accessories aren't as expensive. They sell little items like bumper sticks and band/message pins (for those of you, like me, who like to put them on messenger bags). This is another place to find halloween makeup and costumes, especially adult ones. The salespeople are friendly and helpful. They greet me most of the time when I come into the store. If you shop there a lot, it helps to have a Frequent Buyer's card. The salesperson stamps it everytime you spend $10. After spending $100, you get 15% off your next purchase. more

Hot Topic 3/29/2006

I don't shop here frequently because of the high prices but they do have some interesting clothing here. If you like to dress punk then this is the store for you. They even play music while you shop. The store isn't big but the selection is great. It tends to get very crowded. more

This store is small but they do carry a decent amount of items. You can find clothing and accessories here for both men and woman. I have found some great deals, prices and reasonable. The employees were okay, I had no problems returning some items. Store can get crowded on the weekends. more

Punk it up! 3/18/2006

Talk about your punk. This store is at punk as it gets. The store is teenager oriented and sells a variety of items, such as clothing, shoes, jewelry, sunglasses, and other accesories for both men and women. They got some really cool looking shirts that are quite fashionable. The store iself isn't as big as other stores in the mall, and when a few people come inside, it can seem crowded. I personally liked how the whole store stuck with the punkish theme. The lights in the store were a little dim adding to the punkish atmosphere and you got the punkish music playing in the background. Prices for most clothes were really reasonable, and the sales were at awesome prices. If you like punk, you'll like Hot Topic. more

Very Different but cool 6/19/2005

This place is very punk. When I first walked into one I was so amazed by the stuff they sell there because it is so punk, but if you actually look around you can find some pretty cool stuff. I found a cool messenger bag for my sister here and I had looked all over for it in the mall but no one else had a cute messenger bag. So if you need a bag go to hot topic because they have a lot of cute ones to choose from. more

Editorial
  • In Short
You won't find Britney posters or pop mags in this warehouse store; it's all grunge, punk, goth and whatever's considered edgy and far left of center this week. Blink-182 T-shirts share shelf space with Sex Pistols hoodies, and Linkin Park beanies hang alongside Weezer ball caps. Although there's an abundance of licensed band tees, postcards, magnets and books, there's plenty of alternative wear for any rebellious teen, including goth wear, street wear and anything-but-mainstream accessories.
