When my wife enter the hospice facility for pain management, she could converse, walk short distances with a walker, bath herself with a wash cloth, feed herself, sit up, watch TV...

Editorial review from Citysearch 5/24/2013

My dad recently went into and passed away at Hospice House of Wake County. We were lied to almost from the start and then robbed, They promised to care for him and make him comfortable. Well that never happened, when he was brought there, he was talking and still had the ability to move himself in the bed. Within a day of admission he was a zombie. He no longer spoke or even seemed aware we were there. They promised to care for his skin and to keep him comfortable, well that never happened either. His medications were given erratically, sometimes he would receive nothing for hours and then at other times they would be in his room every 30 minutes with medicine. He was turned whenever they felt like it or when they remembered to come in. I had spent an almost 24 hour period there and he would go for greater than 8 hours in one position. When he died he had skin break down on his hips and his ears were bleeding from breakdown as well, both eyes had ulcerations because they remained opened and dried out. And then to top it all, his jewelry, a dad ring with diamonds was stolen off his body after his death after we left. I highly suggest anyone considering hospice home rethink their options. This place has no concern for you or your loved one. O and the grief support they promise for the family....hmmmm what's that, we have heard from no one. more

Don't send a love one to the hospice center 10/23/2011

When my wife enter the hospice facility for pain management, she could converse, walk short distances with a walker, bath herself with a wash cloth, feed herself, sit up, watch TV, etc. With a little help, she could take care of her basic needs. A few hours after entering the hospice facility, hospice managed to turn her into a bedridden zombie that can no longer do any of these things. Since she has been here, hospice has feed her nothing and has given her little to drink. Actually, they almost immediately put her in a condition where she could not eat and could only occasionally drink small amounts. Of coarse they blame this rapid, almost instantaneous, decline on her disease. I have become convinced that the policy of hospice is to kill by patient as quickly as possible by starvation or dehydration and blame the death on the disease. If hospice feed and water an animal as little as it does its patients, it would be fined for animal cruelty. Is hospice getting a payoff from the insurance companies to get the patient to the morgue as quickly as possible? Don’t let hospice get its hands on anyone you love — especially at one of its facilities. more
