At Hormann Family Kajukenbo we build strong people.
Kajukenbo is a mixed martial art that originated in the palama settlement in Hawaii. It is known for its aggressive offense and practical self-defense applications. It is a blend of Tang Soo Do Karate, Jujitsu, Judo, Kenpo and northern and southern Sil Lum Gung Fu. There are currently four recognized branches of the Kajukenbo art form.
Tum pai is the Northwest's own branch of Kajukenbo and is the fourth official branch. We incorporate elements of Tai Chi, Hsing-i, Wing Chun, and Escrima, in addition to the original Kajukenbo Arts, bringing the soft and hard styles together. Our school focuses on developing character along with skill, with the belief that strong values and personal awareness are the foundations of great self-defense. We offer classes for students ages 4 and up
It is said "the journey of a thousand miles begins with one step", and that is very true of martial arts! whether you are interested in learning to defend yourself, say "no" when you need to, or are just trying to get out and have fun and get in shape, you won't get there if you don't take the first step. The difference between a white belt and a black belt is: the black belt kept walking!. * Mixed Martial Art
