I went to Holy Cross for my freshman year and then I transferred to St. Francis Prep after that. Holy Cross was a JOKE. I've always been a pretty good student, but Holy Cross was not for me. Prep was for me. What I did in regular classes at Prep was better than honors classes at Cross. I also took some honors classes at Prep and the curriculum was great. It was a lot of work and I had a test and/or quiz usually every day in Prep, but it really prepared me for college and I don't know if I would be prepared for college if I stayed at Cross. Not to be mean, but the majority of the kids at Cross were IDIOTS. Most of them wouldn't last in Prep. The curriculum was a JOKE. It was so easy and we hardly had any work and everyone cheated on everything. In Prep people cheated a lot too, and cheating is an issue in both schools, but I felt that it was worse at Cross. Cross is a good school for sports and for not-so-great students and kids who need discipline. And if they need discipline, it is mainly their parents' fault. Going to Prep was the best decision I've ever made. Cross is good at sports but where does that get you in life if you aren't going to the NFL or MLB or NBA? The majority of Cross students couldn't care less about academics, and it was so easy to pass every class. Also a lot of the kids were really rude. I'm pretty shy and they took advantage of that and I was bullied sometimes. When I went to Prep, I expected the same but on my first day there everyone in my homeroom (cor) was kind and welcoming and helpful. It only took a few weeks for me to find a group of friends. There are a lot of cliques in Prep but every school has them unfortunately. The teachers were all pretty helpful and smart too. Some teachers from not only Cross but most other schools teach from the textbook. At Prep there are some teachers like that, but a lot of them actually know what they are talking about, especially in the Science, Social Studies, and Math departments. I have to admit though, the Spanish classes at Prep were extremely easy, just like at Cross. \r

Finally I would like to say that some of the kids who graduated with me at Prep went to amazing colleges like Harvard, Penn, etc. These are IVY LEAGUE schools. I heard that the top student at Cross went to St. Johns. What a joke. Average students at Prep went there and its easy to stay in.\r

My advice is that if you're a good student, don't go to Cross. Prep is better for you. If you are not a great student, Cross is for you. I know kids who went to Cross and shined there and really should've gone to Prep. I also know kids who went to Prep and should've gone to Cross since they either failed out of Prep or almost did. 75 is passing in Prep. 65 at Cross so anyone who failed with a 74 would've been fine at Cross. Also a 75 in Prep is like an 85 at Cross since the standards are much higher at Prep. I went to both schools and I am certain that Prep is a much better school.
