I WAS THERE FOR MY APPOINTMENT AND HAD TO WAIT 45 MINUTES WHILE MY PUPPY WAS SCREAMING JUST TO GET A SHOT!!! WOW...I was just there today and they could care less about my puppy who needed shots bad TOO just like the person below my comment from two years ago. They acted like the employees came before the animals. They were basically like we are too good for you; we don't need your business instead of having the best interest for the animals. The receptionist laughed when I called back to speak with a manager. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL! WTF type of business are they running there? I will stop at nothing to let everyone know THEY JUST WANT YOUR MONEY AAAAAAAAAAND it's 3 times as much as any other clinic. F+++++ It's very funny the comment from two years ago still hasn't been resolved! They blew it hard core! Especially, the receptionist antagonizing me and the owner who didn't discipline the employee. WTF!? I'd throw her through the wall if she was a man you fat slob receptionist. F+++++ If you care about your animals. Take them to a real ""VET""(owner) who actually cares about the animals and doesn't treat their vet clinic like a puppy mill, just so they can make a couple extra bucks. Spoken from the heart of a true DOG lover!!! more

Love Everything About Them! 4/13/2012

I have taking my pets to High Plains Vet Hospital for many years and absolutely love the vets and staff. They are so kind to my animals and my animals LOVE coming in. I have been to other vet offices where my animals are scared at even approaching the door but at High Plains they are eager to enter! Thank you High Plains Vet for taking such wonderful care of my babies! more

AWESOME!!!!! 4/9/2012

Dr. McKenney is the most awesome, loving vet I have seen. The office staff are always very helpful and friendly. They truly are a pleasure to deal with. more

Reasonable - Timely when needed - understanding 2/15/2012

I was first recommended to Dr. McKinney by a friend who was her client years ago before High Plains opened up. Dr. McKinney handled Sasha's first gall stones problem then and I followed Dr. McKinney to High Plains & met Dr. Pierce who has been seeing my Maine Coon since. Dr. Pierce is familiar with all the problems an old cat can have. They are always gentle with touchy cats and can quickly diagnose issues & suggest reasonable treatment. Reasonable prices when I finally had to put her down. I would recommend them to anyone needing a good vet - especially a good cat vet - which is hard to find in the Springs. more

Great Experience! 2/6/2012

I was new to CS and looking for a vet to do bladder surgery on my dog. I was quoted an outrageous price by another vet in the Springs that was about 4x the price quoted by High Plains. My dog received excellent care and his surgery was great. The staff answered all my questions and made me feel very comfortable about leaving him for surgery. Dr. McKinney was wonderful and personally called me to let me know when my dog was out of surgery. I won't use another vet but High Plains while I'm stationed in the Springs and would definitely recommend them to family and friends! more

Best Veterinary Hospital 2/6/2012

This veterinary is the best. Although Dr. McKenney is our primary Dr. we have seen every Dr at one time or another. They are all great. The Doctors as well as their staff is friendly, caring, and very helpful in every way. I have three dogs who are very much a part of our family. I have bounced around from vet to vet, looking for one I was comfortable with. When we rescued our third dog (Kylo) 5 years ago, she was diagnosed with heart worm, the vet could not get the treatment for 3 weeks. We did not want to wait that long to treat her, so I began to make calls around to several vets looking for one that had the treatment on hand. As luck would have it, that is how I found Dr. Mckenney. more

A Great Veterinary Hospital!!! 2/6/2012

We would highly recommend High Plains to everyone...The Doctors and Staff are excellent, kind, considerate and very caring. We mostly visit with Dr McKinney, she is the best!!! Dr McKinney always follows up with us after being in for issues with our little one. Never to busy to answer questions and give us advice on how to care for our pet. A hugh Thank you to everyone associated with the clinic we are extremely pleased and very thankful to have your Vet Office in our neighborhood. more

BEST VET I HAVE EVER FOUND 1/31/2012

I have reviewed them on Google but since then we have moved all the way to Divide, CO and they are still our primary vet! We will drive almost 2 hours so Dr. Pierce or even the techs can see my animals. We have four dogs and care that really stands out is: -years of care for my yellow lab, through thyroid issues that change almost monthly and horrible knee replacement surgeries, from puppyhood to now at 8 years old healthier than he's ever been! - emergency care when the dogs have accidents that doesn't immediately jump to the most expensive and dramatic diagnosis: usually we get a sound exam, and directions to go home and rest with maybe some pain meds unless the situation really requires otherwise. I've never had a vet who is obviously concerned with the best medical care for the animal and the most sensible treatment plan for the owner. So many vets take advantage of your worry and fear to sell you meds, treatment, and scare tactics you and your animals don't need. - They know my dogs by name, remember them, and their issues. - When my lab had strange weight loss, Dr. McKenna (sp) worked with me on the phone for days to help figure out what was going on, so I didn't have to drive in too often. She spent a ton of her time researching and redoing lab results at no charge. She also really listened to me, and what I thought it was, without discounting my ideas. Another great thing -- these guys know that you probably know an awful lot about your own dog, and they use your insights rather than acting like they know everything and just shining you on, like so many other vets. - They have given me bad news professionally, promptly, and with a ton of options already prepared to make my decisions easier. - I can call and ask questions, specific questions, and they answer them. I never get the "better just come in for a visit runaround". - My dogs ear infections were misdiagnosed by THREE other vets who gave them cursory exams. Dr. Pierce took a sample of earwax, and in 3 min had an accurate diagnosis, prescribed meds, and we haven't had an ear infection in over 2 years. - Sometimes we have to go to another vet because it's an emergency, and I have noticed my dogs are scared, anxious, etc. When we pull up in front of High Plains, it's like we're going to the dog park or something! My dogs get super excited because the staff is so nice to them, they really love on them, brush them, talk to them like the little people they think they are, and when they have to stay there for some reason, my dogs don't even think twice. They're like "see ya, Mom, playing with these guys now!" Even my heeler who hates everyone and bites will let Dr. Pierce stick a needle in her and poke and prod without getting tense. That's probably the best testimonial to what a great vet they are. - They also understand the limits of people, and address things like the practicality of working full time and say, keeping an injured animal quiet and still. Or simply not being able to afford the best option -- they will really work with you, your animal and your needs to figure out a plan. Not like they give you a discount - I mean they take the info you give them and tell you what you can do, in your current situation, to be the best pet owner you can. I love that. When I first started seeing them as a super broke college student with a sick dog, they really helped me figure out how to treat him to the limits of my abilities, from exercise plans to the best cheap dog food I should buy to being honest about what we could expect without the top tier of care. (That dog, London, is still alive and better than ever 8 years later :) Anyway, in my opinion, unless High Plains tells you to go somewhere else, you are not getting the best care! They are worth every single penny. more

Caring and professional perfectly describes everyone who works at this veterinary clinic. 12/3/2011

We are grateful to the friend who so highly recommended us to this clinic. We have been in for well checks, rabies shots, and one incident of cutevera with one of our puppies. They also have done a complimentary check of teeth and gum health. We generally see Dr. Pierce but Dr. McKenney checked our little dogs teeth since Dr. Pierce was out that day. We love Dr. Pierce. She is absolutely wonderful, skilled, calm, reassuring to us and our dogs, but we feel know that the other doctors in the clinic are also there for us. Nancy and Dawn and others who have been at the front desk have been lovely as well. I can't say enough positive things about them. Thanks to a great team. more

Awesome!!! 11/22/2011

I've been coming to High Plains ever since they opened and can't highly enough of their caring, expertise and rofesionalism. Dr. Pierce & Dr. McKinney are awesome but so are all the techs & the front office staff! (I haven't seen Dr. Butler much, so nothing against her :-) ) more

I wish I could go six stars! Best Vet Clinic I've been to!!! 11/17/2011

I can only tell you that the administrative staff, technicians, and Dr. Pierce are top-notch. My can't begin to express my personal gratitude for the care, expertise, and service they provided. As with many pet owners, my family and I love our dog Duchess immensely and she is an integral part of our family. If it weren't for the efforts of Dr. Pierce, she would have most certainly died. I will never forget and will always be indebted for the extra step this staff takes to ensure the health and well-being of it's patients and more importantly my dog. more

Best vet clinic in Colorado 11/14/2011

I've been taking my dogs to Dr. Pierce and Dr. McKinney for years. Their expertise gave my Irish Setter, Casey, an extra year of life. They are always thorough and I never feel like they are suggesting treatments to simply bring in more revenue. Their main goal is to keep our pets healthy and happy. They are the best. more

Excellent care! 11/5/2011

Dr. Pierce provided compassionate, caring and competent care to our beloved dog all the way to the end. When we adopted our two cats from the Humane Society a few months later, we didn't hesitate to follow Dr. Pierce to her new clinic and would not consider going to anyone else. We highly recommend Dr. Pierce and the rest of the doctors and staff of High Plains Veterinary Clinic for anyone seeking the very best healthcare for their pets. more

Excellent vet practice 10/28/2011

What a relief to have the combination of competent, caring vets and reasonable prices. Have been with them for 3 years and they treat our pets so well. Appointments are on time; staff is friendly and helpful; vets are thorough and I trust them with my dogs that mean the world to us. more

5 Babies && We Can All Agree On One Thing 10/8/2011

My husband and I just returned from deployment in July. We brought back our dogs from my parents house after having them being watched there while we were gone. We had no idea where to take them after having taken them to Banfield for so long and wasted our money. We were recommended by a friend to come to this vet and it was the best recommendation we were ever given. We absolutely LOVE this vet and we see Dr.Butler ever time - she's awesome! Our dogs love it here and are treated like royalty. This vet is a long drive from where we live but it's def. worth it and we will continue to make the drive. more

very pleased with the high quality service that we receive 9/30/2011

everyone is friendly, it is always clean, and not often do they run late with appointments, all questions are always answered, never feel rushed. more

The Best Veterinary office 9/15/2011

From all of my experiences with vets through my many years of having many animals, this Veterinary clinic offers the best service, and the best expertise, that I have ever had. Thank you for your caring love. more

Wonderful Vets!! 8/20/2011

I've been bringing my pets to Dr. Pierce since the late 90's - I even followed her when she went from another practice to open her own with Dr. McKenney. Everytime I go in, I feel they care for my pets like I do. Dr. Pierce even will remember an incident with my first pet I brought her that died 10 years ago. They really get to know each and every pet. It's also great to know should Dr. Pierce be out that Dr. McKenney is just as good. No more panic button should I have a pet emergency on my vet's day off :). I recently went when the newest vet Dr. Baker was there and she was wonderful as well. Diagnosed my dog's issue very quickly and had the same caring manner as the other doctors. The front desk is also super - they always remember me and are happy to try and answer questions over the phone to save me a trip. Bottom line, I wouldn't trust anyone else with my pets!! more
