ADOPTERS BEWARE! This place uses CAPP to place its animals. A while back, I adopted a cat from CAPP and they had given her a clean bill of health. After seven weeks of love and care, I had to put her to sleep because of feline leukemia.\r Maybe CAPP now does more than just a SALIVA test. For cats and their humans, I hope so. more

Stuck up snobs. There is a pet smart right down the street. Go to them for friendly service. Avoid this snooty store. Over priced. more

Great Fish Dept 7/1/2009

Great selection especially in the fish dept. Mike is very knowledgeable and has no problem answering all the questions I have. It's great having a store with employees that know what they are doing and can help with great advise. It may be a little overpriced but they take care of their animals very well which I think is most important. Highly recommended! Pros: Very clean store and animal lovers Cons: a little over priced more

Small but great 2/19/2009

The women who wrote about the adoption aspects does not care too much about animals, as healthy pet center just wants to find the best fit and the ebst home for the animals that have been rescued. The store is on a smaller scale, but the people are very friendly, would be nice to see more variety of animals in there. The fish dept. is great, I was talking to a guy named Scott who was cleaning the tanks and he was very helpful, and friendly, didnt just brush me off like retail stores. I also found Mike to be quite informative to, as Scott didnt know something so he asked Mike who knew the answer. They were great and very nice to talk to, I can also say the tanks looked emaculate and you can tell the fish are very well taken care of. Great job Healthy Pet Pros: Great store, very friendly Cons: Small sore more

Good service and support along with selection. 1/19/2009

This store is quite good and much much better than one of the box stores. Recently, we've given our kids fish tanks and I've found Mike in the fish department to be very very helpful. They also do free water testing of your tank and your home supply and sell RO water (probably other types too) for salt and fresh systems. Don't be afraid to ask questions and understand that they can order anything you need. Also realize they cannot anticipate every question you should have asked so do your homework and ask questions. I've looked at other stores locally that are dedicated to fish and while they are good, I like this one for the personalized service and locality (not too far). Mike has given us a lot of personal service such as water correction and fish compatibility recommendations. It's always good to support your local stores instead of box stores. The tanks have always been in good shape and clean and the fish have always been healthy. They also have a nice selection of plants and coral related plants. Pros: Location, service, quality, products sold Cons: Smaller store and limited room but this is unavoidable and probably practical for them. more

Excellent service 12/23/2008

The women who wrote a previous review of this establishment rating it a 1 star is a fool. By reading her review it explains how much care they put into the animals they find homes for. If your application for adopting an animal was denied, there is a good reason for it. In my office we see animals come in malnourished all the time... Pet stores taking precautions such as stricter policies for adopters, is a step in the right direction. Pros: Friendly service, very bright and inviting. more

Healthy Pet N. Greenbush and CAPP are the best things to happen to a pet 6/26/2008

Healthy Pet and CAPP are the best things to happen to every pet! The pets are their number one concern. CAPP wants to have no question they are putting a pet in the perfect situation, keep in mind most of these pets have had a tough life and we all can agree that we want what is best for the animals. And making sure these homes are life homes is their number one concern. I just guess they have high standards, and for that I am happy! I have been approved for a Dog it only took two day?s for the approval, and yes they did contact my Vet, and I am glade they did now they know with confidence I will give the dog and continue providing my Cat with the best care. Pros: they have what you need and the knowledge to serve you Cons: need longer hours more

PET LOVER BEWARE ! ! 4/20/2008

I am very disappointed in Healthy Pet Center, or better yet, CAPP. If you want to adopt a pet, it would seem you only need one requirement...RICH! First you have to fill out a very lengthy application, then they make you wait many days as they review and even call past vets to check to see how ""perfect"" an owner you've been (if you have previously or presently own animals)... They not only expect all animals to be up to date on shots (at least this part is partially understandable even though I know people who DONT do it, and THEIR pets live 15-17 yrs). But they ALSO expect you to take ALL your animals for a once a year ""physical"". If you haven't, they will DENY your app ! It doesn't matter if you're home most of the time, or have always had animals, or have a VERY LOVING home to give to an animal. I thought ""those things"" were the MOST important... but I found out the hard way after I got denied. I have never had to fill out one before because my cats lived a good 14-16 years, and I was VERY much looking forward to a couple of kittens. I was very sad at this turn of events, so if you must, I guess now you know how to answer the app if you want a pet. Pros: None that I can think of. Cons: Have pets you can't adopt... more

Bright and clean! 7/14/2006

Healthy Pet has recently expanded their store, and the results are fantastic. They have a separate room for kitten and cat adoptions now. They have a huge selection of pet foods and supplies, and the dry goods area of the store is well-organized and very clean. They also have crickets available, which is very convenient. Their fish and small animal selection is small, and the aquariums are often cloudy, and they're mostly little 10-gallon tanks with normal ""bread and butter"" fish that can be found just about anywhere. They would get a ""10"" if they would either step up or eliminate the live fish department. Pros: An asset to cat rescues, clean, friendly staff Cons: fish department isn't very good more
