I just purchased my second car from Harvey Auto Sales. I had to drive about 70 minutes to get there but I have to stick with these guys. I really like this group of people. It is a family owned business. The first car I bought was six years ago. I put 75,000 miles on it and sold it for close to the same price I bought it. They are not salesmen, they do not talk you into ANYTHING! I think us consumers should really help the small businesses. The big dealers are no longer an option for my family. Their website is very user friendly, their prices are unbeatable. I recommend them to everybody. Some of my friends said they are afraid to travel to Flint. It would be nice if they were in a better area. Their location is not the bad part of Flint but I still wouldn't go there at night. I will only go there during the day. I will always go there to buy my vehicles. My wife wants a new Lacrosse so they are going to find one for her because they don't have one. Just super neat people. I give them thumbs up! more

I love this family owned business. I have been looking for a car for about three months. My coworker referred me to a little car dealership in Flint. He has been purchasing cars from them and only them. poor guy has teenage twins which can get pricey when they turned 16. So I looked on their website. I saw a car online, called the dealership. It was located in Flint. I was a little skeptical due to the location. I went there on my lunch break. I looked over the car. I decided I would bring my wife back to look at the car. The crew at the dealership are very laid back. The guy told me what he knew about the vehicle. I took into consideration that these cars aren't their personal vehicles so their knowledge is limited compared to a private seller. I took the car to my mechanic. He said for the year the car has normal wear and tear. He stated that the price was right for the condition of the car. It was going to need new rotors very soon. I went back to the dealership told the owner what the mechanic said. Needless to say I had new rotors within the day and a new car. They really are a step above the normal little car lot. I will refer everyone I know to them because of price and customer service. I am so glad I found these guys. I am going to be purchasing a truck in the fall and these guys are my ONLY option. I give them a 10 out of 10!!!!! more

First let me say that I wish I had done my homework on Harvey's before I bought my vehicle because I see a previous review that had the exact same experience that I've had. I went to Harvey's in Flint from Warren. I saw there sale for my Chevy Blazer on AutoTrader. It looked good so we drove the hour and twenty minutes it took us to get there. I had a good vibe about the lady at the front (can't remember her name, if she ever gave it) so I figured with the atmosphere (owner kids playing and behaving) they understood the trouble people go through to have a reliable vehicle that you can feel good about. My husband found a couple of issues with the vehicle for which the lady brought down the price of the car. I was grateful and we seemed to have a good mutual respect going on. We even joked and swapped stories. But it was all to get rid of this horrible vehicle. After signing the ownership for the vehicle,1 hour and 5 minutes later, on the way home we were calling a tow truck on the outside shoulder of I-75 heading south. We had to come out of pocket 40 because the ""warranty"" only covered 5 miles worth of towing. REALLY?!? well we had to get the car back home right? That night I called Harvey's and left a message they called me back at approx. 9:45 am. a few minutes before they were due to open. I'm thinking to myself that these people are going to at least offer to fix any problems. So when I told him I didn't have a way to bring the truck back because it was in front of my house I was asked ""why would you bring it back"". He said that the matter was probably due to the tank being empty. I told him that we attempted to fill the tank up last night when we left and only got $3.09 worth into the tank, indicating that it was full. One of the issues that the lady said might be wrong with the car is that the gauge may not work (taking down the price another $100 dollars). We even joked that if the gauge wasn't indeed broken that (the lady's suggestion) I would send her the $100 in the mail.We opted to get the gauge fixed (couldn't be that expensive right? wrong). But apparently the guy was so adamant that we needed gas in the car I had to ask why he thought so. Given that all the signs indicated that it was an alternator or fuel pump or a dead battery. He claimed that the vent on some sort of gas valve wouldn't let the gas in at a fast rate that we had to get a gas can to fill the tank(So I can't just fill up my tank and go I have to feed my car like a baby???). THAT WOULD'VE BEEN NICE TO KNOW LAST NIGHT BEFORE WE SIGNED!!!! That's a major inconvenience, AIN'T NOBODY GOT TIME FOR THAT!! My husband SPECIFICALLY asked if there were any issues with the car that we should know about so that we could make an informed decision. The guy and his sidekick shrugged, laughed and stated they don't know much about the cars. REALLY?!? This vehicle (by the pictures) seemed to be in your care for at least 6 months...and you STILL know nothing about the car but are SO adamant that you know the car needs gas....HMMMMMM, uh yeah right. He said I couldn't return the car and sure enough I looked it up. Michigan has no ""used"" vehicle lemon laws. So we just special ordered a ""fuel goose neck"" for the Blazer for $89 (including shipping). Total spent on this vehicle so far $129...and that is only if Harvey's suggestion about the ""vent"" issue is actually correct. So my advice....if you want a vehicle skip this dealer. You don't have to take my word for it. But this has been MY experience. more

CHEERS FOR HARVEYS 9/29/2011

I went to Harvey Auto Sales back in May. I looked around the lot, saw some really good prices but I only had $3000 cash with me. They do not do any financing which is good and bad. Good is that they are not one of those places that charge you an arm and a leg for a car. Bad was because I had to save up more money or go get a loan for a car. I really did not want any payments so I decided to save more money. I went back in the end of June saw a car really wanted, but wanted my wife to look it over first. I went back two days later and someone had already snagged it up. So back to the drawing board. The car lot is a family ran place. They are extremely casual no gimmicks. She told me if you want the car just let us know. So I went back AGAIN then I found a truck. I wanted a truck but for gas reasons thought I should stick with a smaller car same thing happened brought wifey back next evening truck gone! So now I thought maybe I should bring the wife next time so there isn't any cars that sell before I back it back. Kept an eye on their website.dragged wifey with me. Sure enough that was the cure to my buying dilema. First time I looked at it did not want it sold AGAIN so I purchased a sedan, I drive about 150-200 miles a day. So the Torrey and my wife decided for me LOL ( not really, I agreed ) that it was a better choice to get a vehicle that was good on gas. I have had my car for about two months. Everything is running great. I did take it in to get a tune up, oil change and looked over just because I put alot of wear and tear on my cars. I was impressed with the honesty of this place. I am not stupid I know that evetually something will have to be fixed on my car. I mean it is USED???? The staff there just seem like real people. I babbled long enough. LOL more

LOVE THESE PEOPLE 7/8/2011

have purchased three cars from this car lot. I just love these guys. They do not BS. Tori will tell you to look it over, bring it to a mechanic, she is very to the point. They are not pushy like most places. I refer them to everyone I know. You have to check them out before you go anywhere else. They are a nice couple who grew up in the Flint. they truly want Flint to make a comeback which is one of the reasons there are in FLINT... I wish they would move closer to me because I do not like Flint. They are every bit worth the gas to travel LOL more

Crappy Company to deal with 6/9/2011

I purchased a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee, I knew it had a couple of issues. We came to a fair price for these issues. So I thought, 20 miles out of town it broke down. I knew it had a patched hole in the tranny pan. The car started smoking and was leaking tranny fluid, so of course I assumed responsibility since I knew of the hole. Tough luck but oh well. I had it towed 100 miles to Grandville to my friend's shop. He now tells me that the Torque Converter Tranny Seal is bad, and that there are fresh scrape marks where someone tried to clean it up. Also it's missing a bolt or 2 and others are loose. He said that no mechanic worth a crap would miss this and that I should call the dealer and work out a fair deal to have it fixed. My buddy is only charging me 350-400 to fix it. So I call up and get the usual ""you bought it as-is, we're sorry but tough"" line of crap. They said it was suspicious that i had it towed all the way to grandville (I LIVE IN HOLLAND!) and I thought it was the same issue we had already worked out a price based on. I was lied to blatantly. I was told I could not have the boss's phone number and that she would not do anything anyhow. I finally talked to the boss lady and she offered to buy the vehicle back. That's a fine offer, but I'd have to pay 400.00 to have it towed back to them and that's what it will cost to fix it. I was lied to, they attempted to cover themselves by offering me a ""Way out"" that would cost me the same as fixing it, and showed absolutely no compassion. I would have gotten a better deal had they disclosed this issue. I have reported it to the BBB, and I will be writing reviews on every site I can find, to save YOU from having to deal with this shady crap. more
