Harbor Pointe

We are now on our third apartment in this complex due to MOLD. The management company is charging us for repairs to the second apartment in which we discovered mold in 3 different places. After confirming the mold problem, they are now denying that there was any indication of mold in the unit. The drywall in one of the closets had rotted through to the ground, in a matter of months! (I would also like to indicate that the molded areas were not properly delt with and the unit, and likely the whole building, still has mold.) We were then hassled about paying a transfer fee as well as a new deposit. Our newest unit needed several repairs upon move-in. Management was untimely in having these fixed, dragging their heals for months after repeated requests. All people involved with the managing of this apartment complex clearly do not care about the tenants. Unless you enjoy hassle and headaches, DO NOT rent at Harbor Pointe. more

Anyone complaining about air conditioning in January obviously was on a vendetta. I've lived here a long time and all is well. Except for the condition of the outside of many buildings. It is paramount that they get fixed. more

I cant tell you what a hole in the wall these apartments are. Yes they are all nice and friendly, but once you move in it all changes. The air condition doesnt work. Their answer is its hot out side. No joke really... well its 90 outside and its 87 in my house and Im sitting on my sofa with three fans running and its 10 at night. Whats wrong with this picture? I have lived in Charleston all my life, I know it gets hot. But when my parents have a four bed room home and keep it so cold you have to wear a sweater and here I am sitting still sweating and my electric bill is triple what theirs is..... somethings wrong. WOW!Between the ""co*k r*aches "", paper-thin walls, termites, and shoddy management, I really don't know where to begin. My wife and I have found numerous ""c*ck r*aches"" ranging from small to small dinosaur. One morning before a jog I went to put a shoe on and overnight one had managed to take shelter in my brand new Nike's!!! On average I pick up between 10-20 rolly polly's or as I call them Pac-Men..These things may have been cute as a kid, but living with them is a different matter. I have sealed off everything in the apartment to try and rid us of at least half of the insects but this was a battle I was going to lose. It's sad because I have deployed to numerous 3rd world countries with spiders the size of cats, poisonous snakes,scorpions and the only place where I have found wildlife in my shoe was at the Harbor Pointe Apartments. The wood has rotted, paint is chipping off, the fitness area is a joke, I think the treadmill and bike and ""weight machine"" are the only things that work properly. This place is so shoddy I personally feel like a failure to bring my wife into such a disgusting environment. If you have family or even a family pet that you care about, pay the extra 100-200 bucks to move to a nicer area. You will end up spending about that much on Raid anyway. If you decide to move here with a chld you should be put in jail for child abuseabuse/negligence. The office is a joke. Also like other threads posted, you'll swear that there is some sort of magical fecal monster that will leave another deuce outside your apartment in the morning. I am not sure where they are keeping the horse stable at but by the size of the feces, you can only imagine that Big Brown patrols the complex in the morning. If I had a choice I wouldn't have even given this place a star at all. I would give it a negative star whatever that is. A blackhole, maybe? Worst place to live. I had to file with the better business bearu to get them to do anything about the problems in my apartment that they told me they would do a month ago. The steps come out from under your feet and they refuse to fix them. The stair and door lights are always out making it hard to see. I watched the stair light smoke one night before it went out. Stairs falling out from under feet and lights not working is a bad combo. The paint and wood are falling off the building, it is really not up to building codes at all. Everything is run down and apartments are always vacant. The office service is a joke. They are nice to get you to move in, show you what your apartment will look like when you move in, and then after the seal the deal you will be lucky to get anything in return from them. The tennis court is a joke, cracks all over it, you are luck if you get a single game off without a hitch in it. The lush landscape is a joke. It is brown grass with small areas a green, dog fecal matter everywhere, bushes are not trimmed or kept up in anyway, and there are large holes you can just fall in if you feel like getting hurt. I would not suggest living anywhere close to this place. The rent for what you get is no where close to even or superior, but consider it you gettin ripped off if you move in here. I couldn't agree with the other reviews more. They don't keep up with anything here. They didn't feel like trimming the bushes outside and told the landscapers to cut them all down, they'll grow back the right size in 6 months, and now it looks like a barren wasteland. The water goes out every other month (it is out RIGHT NOW) and they are too cheap to call someone to fix it. The location and floor plan may be great, but if you want to pay $865 to live in a 2 bedroom poop-shoot be my guest. Pros: location, floor plan Cons: maintenance, helpfulness more

Come to Harbor Pointe Apartments if you want to live in a place with long-tailed rodents [I am not allowed to use the exact term on this review - but, I will give you a hint - it rhymes with 'cat']. The office staff will kindly place a variety of large rodent traps throughout your $1200/mo. apartment. Or if you are really lucky you will get the apartment that is the breeding ground for mold. Have you ever seen mold s-l-o-w-l-y grow up the walls around your refridge. hmmm. Or if your air-conditioner if broken... just hang tight and you can endure the $275.00/mo. electric bill. Yes, HPA has a great location. This is true.... but, the buildings - with a pleasant facade - are decrepit and I feel sorry for the poor soul who invests in one of these units if they ever turn into condos. Save your money/time/energy and rent somewhere else. If you do decide to rent here.... enjoy the ride ....the mold...the heat ...and the rodents. Don't say I didn't tell you so. Very very bad management. Moment there is a problem in the community, the first thing that gets closed is the office. Water is down for the last 3 days and all we can talk to is a notice put up in front of the office.
