Appalling Service 9/4/2007

I definitely don’t recommend this horrible place. I had made an appointment at Hannelore’s which they confirmed via email. My mother had come in from SC, and my future mother-in-law had come from PA. We drove down from Baltimore (about 50 miles away). When we arrived, there was a sign on the door saying that they were closed. We couldn’t believe it. I called and emailed Hannelore’s to get an explanation, and they did not return my call, but sent me an email without an apology saying that I would be receiving a call. It never came. I wouldn’t want to be a customer of theirs and have an issue before my wedding, since there’s a good chance they wouldn’t return the call. I honestly can’t believe that they treated me this way and hope that other people avoid them. No one deserves that. more

Helpful staff, carries larger sizes 3/24/2007

I went here and had a good experience. One of my bridesmaids was very hard to fit, but Hannelore's had larger sizes for her to try and were really nice about helping her find a dress that fit and looked great. It was expensive, but it was worth it to have had the nice shopping experience (others were depressing for her). more

Hannalores - The first dress I tried on was so "me" 1/22/2007

I got my wedding dress from this Alexandria shop. They have two floors - so plenty of dresses - and large fitting rooms. They carry Domestic and Imported dresses in every price range - well it seemed that way at the time...I think I paid under $1,000 for my dress but its been a few years. The nice thing in H is you can browse through most of the inventory of their dresses. Some shops (like Rizik's in DC) will only bring dresses out to you. They had nice alterations folks, the rush fee was very reasonable (but that was probably due to the fair dress designer).I had my mom so I can't say whether their folks are any good or not at finding "the" dress for you. But it always helps to take pictures in so they know the look you want. But note that the look you want may not look good on you! There is also an excellent place in Long Island that I visited years ago but I can't recall their name. They are HUGE!! more

I got Lucky at Hannelore's 4/16/2006

Most of the reviews I've seen for Hannelore's have been very negative. While it's true that most of the staff is snotty and rude, it's not the case of everyone there. I worked with Danielle, a fantastic French woman. She may have treated me better because I used to live in France and we were speaking French the whole time, but it was still a great experience. She let me try on any dress I wanted, even if it was out of my price range. I didn't find my dress there, but it was still a good place to go. more

Very Upscale Bridal Salon 12/21/2005

I went to Hannelore's Bridal Salon when I was searching for a wedding gown for myself, and I found that the staff was very snotty and not willing to cooperate with my budget. They have a nice selection, and I especially like the bridesmaids dresses, but I would only recommend this store to somebody on a seemingly endless budget. more

Great for bridesmaid dresses! 12/10/2005

I went to Hannelore's when I was looking for my bridal gown. I wasn't thrilled with my salesperson and I couldn't quite afford all of the dresses I tried on, either. I recently went back (to their new location) to look for bridesmaid dresses for a friend of mine. First of all, their new location is MUCH better than their old King Street building. The bridesmaid dresses are all on the first floor. They are arranged by color, which is very helpful. And they have just about every style imaginable, at pretty reasonable prices. Our salesperson was very helpful, and we all got 10% off of our dresses! more

Overpriced, snobby bridal salong 10/28/2005

Although Hannelore's has some of the most beautiful formal and wedding attire available in the area, the staff appears to be fairly snobby and the prices are exorbitant. The store requires an appointment before really looking at and trying on dresses and the staff is not really friendly once you tell them what your budget is (if it is a medium sized budget). more

High end bridal boutique 8/7/2005

While Hannelore's gets great reviews from many people my experience there was a little bit of a let down. I felt that they were a little too snotty and did not listen to what I wanted. I asked for a certain type of dress, they brought me something completely opposite to try on. While it was beautiful it wasn't what I was looking for and totally out of my budget. They also make too big a deal of the appointments and aren't always very accomodating. However, they have a really beautiful selection of high end dresses. more
