I've been using Handyman Matters Inc for about two years. They were very organized from the time I called them to tell them I needed assistance. Someone got back to me right away to schedule. They have very good customer service, and they arrived on time. We needed to coordinate with a tile guy and plumber, and they coordinated everybody seamlessly and easily. I've used handyman matters twice now and I know I'll use them again whenever I have home projects that are too extensive for me to tackle alone. I've recommended them to friends who have also had great results. Their work is excellent and very affordable. Best part, they are all multi skilled craftsman and can fix a wide variety of things in one visit eliminating the need for an expensive contractor or several different people for just a few tiny things. They're really great about coming in and not only fixing what I saw wrong, but also suggesting things that could be combined into the one visit. I needed my bathroom fan replaced and rewired, a vanity light wired and installed, some kitchen outlets replaced and a GFI installed. I had gotten a quote from an electrician and was shocked at the price tag on what I thought were small projects so I turned to Angie's list for a handyman. Handyman Matters was an excellent choice! My handyman arrived right on time, assessed the situation and while he got started I ran to Home Depot to get any missing supplies. Initially I was only planning on having him do the fan and outlets but when he said he could do the vanity light I was thrilled! I loved being able to purchase the materials while he worked since it saved me time on the clock and I knew I wasn't getting ripped off on the price of materials. He did a great job and now my bathroom is nice and bright with proper ventilation and my outlets in the kitchen don't wiggle anymore. It only took him 5.5 hours and I easily saved $500. I would hire again no question! more

A beautiful job on our 1 cabinet door, however, we feel like $500 to repair one door is extreme. We have 44 cabinet doors - glad the rest are okay... more

Handyman Matters installed a shelving unit in one of my closets. The guy was very friendly and did a good job. It was installed very well. more

The work and time it was finished in was excellent. But the handyman spent the ENTIRE time complaining about the job! And was I sure I really wanted the work done. more

First of all, I'm a retired quality insurance manager, which means I'm always focused on details. Because of that, I would rate them very highly at meeting my requests for details. They were always forthright and always worked with me. The experience was professionally very satisfying and very focused in understanding my needs. They were willing to answer questions for me. For example, my wife asked me about the procedure for if we were to buy materials, so I asked them, and Kory sent an email that was very clear and understandable to me. more

The person they sent seemed to have trouble with the projects. I was clear about what I needed to have done when I scheduled. I had to compromise on a couple of things because he wasn't able to do them as I wanted. more

I had a great experience with my lock installation from Handyman Matters. The first technician that came thought he installed the lock with no problem and it did work but was rough. Then it stopped working and I was locked out of my garage. Handyman Matters came over within an hour of my phone call and determined that the door was out of plumb. They had their expert come back over and fix it and threw in a separate job at cost that I needed done in the process. Great service, great guys. Definitely will utilize them in the future and recommend to others. more

The contractor was pleasant, thorough, tidy, knowledgable, and did excellent work. The completed job is professional and easily met our expectations. The contractor explained each step of the process and why each was necessary and better than alternative approaches. more

They fixed our hatch to the attic stairs. Job was done quickly and professionally. The workman who came out was very nice and efficient. more

Handyman Matters of West Portland picked the right person for our job. We had a choice of crew-members, and based on the way we had a custom install, not a repair, they sent one guy who has other skills, and we were on the same page from the get-go. It's hard to convey what we wanted on the phone, but as soon as he got here, he knew clearly what we wanted based on the drawing that I had. When something was not clear, he stopped his work to clarify. There was no need for "rewinding," so to speak, and to me that's a sign of professionalism too: making sure that if there is an impasse, you don't just plod through and make mistakes. I think that was a subtlety that they don't even talk about very often. We had a very personal project, and he knew what he was doing but was open to tweaks as we went along. He also gave us good ideas that I hadn't thought of before, so it was a good relationship. I was satisfied. There is still some work for us to finish on our own, but that's what he prepared us for in building a substructure so that we could finish the rest ourselves. My only caveat is expense. We had a time constraint, and others hadn't followed through, so I was a little edgy about what we were paying. I'm happy that it came our better than I expected, though. The premium was a good value for the timely manner in which the work needed to be done. more

Handyman Matters of West Portland installed an exterior door, which was a retrofit, so it was somewhat of a challenging task. They also installed a dishwasher, which was also a retrofit. Both jobs couldn't have turned out better. The door looks stunning. The threshold had to be built up. The dishwasher installation required wood work so that it could fit and there are no leaks or any problems. The work is flawless. more

They were always willing to give suggestions and ideas when asked, but made sure that I was making the final decisions on what was to be done.
