Han-Ah-Reum Asian Market

I normally only review restaurants, but I had to put in my two cents on this place. This is bar-none the best Asian market in Jersey, and is actually better than most of the ones in Philly. As a chef, this place is for me a treasure trove of hard-to-find ingredients. They have everything...even housewares. Any Asian ingredient you can think of can be found at this place, as evidenced by the fact that they supply a lot of the local asian restaurants. The market is clean and well stocked, the produce is gorgeous, and the seafood counter has specialty items like skate wing, monkfish, and geoduck. They also have live fish tanks...just pick out a fish and the guy behind the counter will dispatch and clean it for you. You don't get any fresher than that. The prices on the seafood are also lower than any market in the area. They also have a Korean bakery with a plethora of delectable desserts. The only drawback is that some of the products are not labelled for the US, so if you don't read Korean you may have to ask an employee about certain things. If you are in the Cherry Hill area, check out this place...you will not be disappointed. If you don't notice it from the road, it is in the same plaza as the D&Q sporting goods store. This is not a japanese market. ITS KOREAN! Why does everybody always get that wrong? We'll I guess it ultimately gets them more business. Its a great market and its very clean. It just opened a new location around 69th St. station. I love to shop there because I can get Korean groceris, some Japanese grocieres and even some from my homeland the Dominican Republic. Its a cosy little market as long as you know what you want. The staff is helpful, though so you'll figure out whats in that green bottle eventually. If you don't live in Jenkintown check out the one by 69th street. They're both great places to shop. I actually like them more than Trader Joe's, but I still go in there to shop too. Pros: Variety, Parking, Prices Cons: Sometimes the lines get a little heavier than Pathmark, but hang in there and you'll be in for a treat! more
