We went to Gwinnett Peds based on a friends recommendation. First we saw Dr Jackson, who was so high strung and alarming. My son had lost less than a pound after leaving the hospital and we were switching him from breast milk to formula. Instead of taking this into consideration, she started talking about doing tests due to suspected kidney problems and seeing a specialist. He was absolutely fine. Most babies lose weight during their first week. There was no reason to alarm a parent like that. Then we switched to a different doctor within the practice. The new doctor prescribed a medication for my son for reflux. The nurse had called it in for us. When I picked up the prescription I noticed that the dose seemed rather high for a newborn, so I called the nurse line to double check the dose. The nurse assured me that the dose was correct, so I gave my son the prescribed dose for 1 month until he was seen again for his 2 month appt. At the 2 month the doctor gave us a refill prescription, and the dose was for 15 mg (as opposed to 30 mg that my son was taking for a month). When I questioned this, the doctor freaked out that she never wanted him on that high dose and apparently the nurse who phoned in the prescription made a mistake. The thing that makes me furious is that I called to double check this. My son was fine and luckily it was a safe medication to be taking a "double dose of", but what if it wasn't? My son should not be subjected to other peoples careless errors. Lastly, I received a stack of bills in the mail for children who were not mine. This was a direct HIPA violation and noone in the billing department seemed to care. I called the office manager to tell him about all this and he finally returned my calls after having left about 5-6 messages. Go somewhere where your child wont be treated like a number! And if you for some reason choose to go here, never take a prescription from a nurse....always speak to the doctor directly or get the script directly from the doctor. Cons: Too many doctors, too many mistakes more
