Here's a horror story for all my fellow urbanspooners. STAY AWAY!!!! Ordered food to our hotel located in south beach 10 minutes away from this restaurant. Spoke to owner Adish who said food will be delivered in 30 minutes. After about 45 mins and no food called restaurant and got hung up on. Called back and some lady who didn't speak English answered phone and basically said 5 minit 5 minit(whatever that means) after waiting for about an hour and 15 minutes got a call from the delivery lady saying she couldn't find the hotel ( mariott south beach?) had to go downstairs and basically flag the lady down. Realized she was just an employee that was being overworked by her slave boss( she spoke minimal English and the hotel employee said this restaurant is known for hiring illegal immigrants) recieved food which was just tasteless. . Chicken was chewy and old.Wasn't disgusting but wasn't oh my good this is so good type of food. Can't really justify the pricing. Called the owner for the next two days to complain but he avoided my call repeatedly. Finally got a hold of Adish( claims to be owner) and was told that he won't refund my money. Offered me a ten percent discount for my troubles. What am I going to do with a ten percent discount to a restaurant that has below average food in a town I don't live in? Bad service below average food and a rude owner who just doesn't care. I bet this place wont be around next year at this rate. If you value your money and want goof service stay away from this place or you will regret it more

Before coming here I read some of the other reviews and was a bit iffy about coming, but seriously, we ordered the chicken tikka as a starter, perfect! Chicken was tender and had amazing flavours! Had Lamb Vindaloo (asked for it hot), garlic naan & raita for our main, it came with a good amount of rice, small salad and veg kebab! All were amazing and this fed 2 of us well! I wasn't over full, but it was enough! From me, if you love Indian food, as I do, definitely give Guru's a try! more

My husband enjoyed the chaat, chicken tikka masala, daal, naan, onion kulcha and pickle. We finished the meal with masala chai and they brought out complimentary galab jaman. The flavors of the food was good and the service was friendly and attentive. We will definitely return! more

Bottomline : Never do a take out, unless you are ok with with non-veg when you specifically order veg.\r \r Not one, not twice, but three times in a row, they screwed up the order. Even after specifically telling them not to screw the order, they did it again! I ordered Panner tikka masala, and got Chicken Tikka masala. When I called them and told them they made a mistake, the owner, was adamant on the claim that they never gave chicken tikka masala!. When I told them that i can message them the picture of what I was about to it, the manager gave a nasty response and told me to calm down! Talk about unprofessionalism! They also failed to put back the charge on my credit card. \r \r I will not recommend Guru. Try Royal India, or Copper Chimney instead if you want to get best return of your money spent! more

I visited Guru during my miami visit and I am very disappointed with their service. We visited guru with 2 kids and were made to wait even though 2 tables were available. I had called in earlier to make a reservation but was told they won't accept any. However, they let a customer who arrived after us take the table while we continued to wait. finally we were given one table of 4 although we were 6. The adjoining table was available but he refused to join it as we were 4 adults and 2 kids. We couldn't squeeze into one table. The host was very rude and this restaurant is not kid friendly at all. I would never go back to Guru and wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone. It's one of the worst customer service I've encountered. Hope this helps! more

The worst service ever, don't go!! Definitely not kid friendly!! They asked us a party of 6 to squeeze into a small table that barely fits 4 even tho they had additional tables available!! AWFUL!! more

My husband and I visited Guru few nights ago for dinner. The food were excellent in taste and portion, but the staff seems to be very unfriendly, tired and suck at service. We would have returned had the staff been a bit friendlier. As old saying goes: "A smiles goes a long way". more

We had a very poor experience at guru on Dec 26 . We walked out after waiting for 15 mins for someone to attend to us and either allot a table or tell us how long it will take for us to get one. As we were waiting we had one couple who was seated at a table walk out after waiting for the menus. We asked a passing waiter whether we could take that table and he did not even bother to respond. We were in Miami for 7 days and this is the only restaurant where we were treated like this. more

i just moved down to Miami beach few months ago, and tried out almost all indian restaurants in the city. i found Guru to be the best! not only is the food authentic, but the ambience is friendly and staff is extremely hospitable. kudos to the manager Murgesh! who is very polite and runs the place very efficiently! he makes me feel at home every time i go back there and provides excellent customer service! As a concierge at one of the leading hotels on south beach, I highly recommend Guru for great Indian food and great customer service! more

Extremely bad customer service. The manager/owner was very very rude.As soon as we walked in with our toddler,he told us we have to fold our stroller even before seating us.And yes,the restaurant does not have high chairs. Then we had barely sat down and the manager came to get the order. We hadn't even looked at the menu yet. After placing the order when we were waiting for our food, which we decided to eat in our hotel room because of the rude behaviour, another couple walked in with their child. They had their stroller parked right next to their table and no one said anything to them.\r Would never go back again because of such rude customer service.\r I have to say though the food was good. more

I was in a party of 8 and they gave us a difficult time to rearrange the seating to accommodate us. When they finally decided to somewhat move the tables around it was very uncomfortable. To add to that they seated a couple that came came in after us. The table that they gave them was a table that we could have used. We left and will never go back. more
