Not alot of parking, you may want reservations on the weekend ( I don't know why). Nice decor, very dimly lit. I actually saw a customer at another table using a compact make-up case light to read the menu. They start out by bringing you a couple slices of stale bread. Everything was very high priced. The cheapest item on the menu was the lasagna and it was not worth it. It was mostly tomato sauce, not enough meat. We did have a very nice waitress! This is a wonderful restaurant with fabulous Italian food. The appetizers were probably the best part of the meal (and considering how wonderful the main course and dessert was, that's saying a lot!) - we had the calamari. Dessert definitely deserves a special mention - I had the Italian Cream Cake, which was amazing. We had good service - I didn't notice it being slow at all, but we didn't rush through dinner. We were just relaxing and talking, and the waitress was pretty good about checking on us and making sure we had everything. The atmosphere was good, though a little dark. And then someone flipped the wrong switch and turned out our light completely! But very quickly turned it back on. We also went to a Wednesday night, which I think may be better if you want to find a parking spot and have a quiet dinner. Pros: Delicious Food!, Service, Atmosphere Cons: , parking! There is no question that Giuseppe's is Lexington's finest Italian restaurant. Every restaurant has glitches on occassion. At Giuseppe's it may be the service from time to time, but NEVER the food. There are things on the menu that are more likely to be found at the Olive Garden than in Italy, but the menu consists of dishes more typically Italian than not. The prices are fair for what you get, the wine list is not hugh but appealing and I've always felt welcome, even if the server wasn't smiling. I'm not sure if I can say that about the Italian chains. While I concur with previous reviews stating the service was without smiles, I found Guiseppe's to be a refreshing change in Lexington dining. We not only enjoyed the atmosphere, but our service was prompt, the live music was soothing, and above all, the food was fantastic. Although it's nice to have service with a smile and I agree it should be encouraged, I am not there to make life-long friends. I place much more importance on timeliness, accuracy (I'm a picky orderer), and taste. We felt welcome to stay and enjoy the music following our meal, also. This was a nice change since many restaurants simply want to rush you out in order to serve the next customer. I'd recommend this above all Lexington Italian restaurants. Most people consider Guiseppe's one of the best Italian restaurants in Lexington. I'm not sure I agree. I have eaten there 3-4 times and I find it to be just average. The location is nice. Surrounded by trees in a cute little building. The decor, however, is uninspired and the paint colors would be offensive if the place weren't so dark. The food is very good. The menu has all the Italian standards plus a few creative dishes. I do have a problem with the service though. I have only had great service one time. My other experiences have not been as satisfying. The servers did not know the menu or were slow and seemed not to care. So, to sum up, Guiseppe's has good food and a good out of the way location. This is hands down the best Italian food in Lexington. It is very underated compared to other more popular and well known restaurants in the area. The attention to food quality and authenticity is unparalled, not to mention the value. more
