Could not agree with the comments more. This staff looks at you like they are doing you a favor if you can even get there attention. I buy a lot of guns. I don't go to a store to hold them, I go to buy. I waited at the counter for over 20 minutes in a shop with 3+ employees and not one person could help. I started an account on citysearch just to say how poor this shop is. I hope I can find another store to spend $1,900 at...... more

GRUMPY OLD MEN!!!!!!!!! I went in to 2/26/2012

GRUMPY OLD MEN!!!!!!!!! I went in to purchase a new rifle (AR-10) and nobody in the store wanted to help me and when someone did help me they were EXTREMELY RUDE.!! The person that made an attempt to answer my questions was distracted by his buddy behind the counter and then walked away as if I wasn't even there. This wasn't the only bad experience at green mountain guns I called them to ask a question about ammunition and was left on hold for 15 minutes and they never responded. DO NOT GO INTO GREEN MOUNTAIN GUNS IT WILL BE A WASTE OF YOUR TIME!!! My recommendation is 5280 armory very helpful more

AVOID this now Nothing Staff 12/29/2011

As has been clearly identified by others, not only is the staff rude, they have little to no knowledge about their store's inventory. There are plenty of people 'working' there but the last item on their to do lists is wait on customers. They stand behind the counter chatting with each other, looking at the guns, anything but make eye contact with potential customers. Finally, when someone did talk with me, they knew absolutely nothing about the item. more

Avoid this store like the plague.. 10/18/2011

I would bet all of the 5 star reviews given are from employees who work at the store who have nothing better to do on their lunch breaks. Just a thought... The customer service in this store leaves much to be desired. The employees who work there are next to rude. I walked into their shoddy store and was ignored for about 15 minutes. A female walks into the store and the creeps catered to her customer service needs right away. Its only obvious these guys dont get laid. So anyway, I put a remington on consignment and they basically used my gun as an example of what not to buy and steered people into buying their overpriced guns. The gun dealers in this store only care about making a buck off your needs. They think they know it all just because they have an ATF dealers license and they can't answer a simple question. The creep didnt even know what a riser mount for a scope is when asked if they carried such a thing. These neo-cons know they will be out of a job when the liberal czars like nancy peloci effectively ban guns so in the mean time they are turning the gun industry into a scam, charging their overpriced 20% consignment fee and $35 transfer fee. Avoid this store like the plague! There are better options out there when it comes to gun stores. more

Gone down hill 10/2/2011

I used to by guns going back to 1980s. Sadly since the owner left I think his name was Don, but not positive. the store has gone down hill the new owner Dons ex wife and his kids have destroyed this great gun store. Employees rude, put a gun on consognnet and never get a call it was sold, and so on. To bad this used to be the only place I would by a gun. NO MORE. more

Horrible Service 5/22/2011

I have to agree with the poor customer service reported here. I have been to this store several times and service is horrible. Couple months ago, I was searching to purchase two AR-15. Called and asked for a specific brand and model. Was told they had several in stock. Made the 2.5 trip to them and not a single model of the brand much less the model I was looking for. When I was finally asked if I needed help, I did purchase a rifle, however as soon as I was entered in the system, the sales clerk disappeared. 1.5 hours later, I asked another person if they could check and see if I was approved. Very rude, asked really snotty how long I was in system. By now I am pi$$ed. I said over an hour and a half and the clerk helping me disappeared. Guy said your done. Walked off got my gun, took my cash. No thank you for purchase, no sorry you had to wait, nothing. Acted like it bothered him to have to get the gun I purchased. Went up the road to 5280, bought $3500.00 worth of guns and accessories for the 2 AR's. One stores loss is anothers gain. Will never set foot in Green Mtn. Guns again and have told every shooter I know of my experiences there. Funny, some of them relate the same treatment. more

Avoid this gun store. 5/16/2011

It sounds like the last review was written by an employee or the owner trying to feebly defend their poor reputation ha ha. I would definately have to agree with the negative reviews previously written. As a customer I do not want to be greeted or converse with a "know it all" I simply just want to be greeted in the first place. I am extremely disappointed with the service green mountain guns fails to provide and I definately agree with whoever said that Walmart was a better place to buy a rifle. This was my expierince (long story short). I walked in and saw three or four employees standing behind the counter doing nothing but holding the counter down. There was one other customer in the store besides myself and not one person acknowledged I was there. I stared at an $1800 M1A for about ten minutes ready to purchase it as soon as someone let me hold it and pull the trigger a couple times but had no luck. (they get extremely irritated when you dry fire one of their firearms by the way) So I took myself and my money to a gunshop on 470 and Sante Fe where I saved myself about $250 on the same exact rifle that same day. Green Mountain guns must sell a lot of firearms to afford losing customers left and right. I have given this place three or four chances and have finally given up. If your buying your first firearm do not go here under any circumstance. Do your homework and go to a buisness that makes you feel comfortable and confident with your purchase. Go to a place that is knowledgable and willing to take the time to educate you. Essentailly go anywhere but this gun shop. more

Staff @ Green Mountain Guns 4/5/2011

I am surprised at the reviews that find the sales staff at Green Mountain to be snooty, snobish, etc. That has not been my experience at all. I am frequently asked if they can show me anything in the cases. I am also frequently greeted by name by one member of the staff. The others don't know me, but are always friendly. There is a retired Lakewood police officer there that is always quite helpful. I can't explain why some people posting had such a bad experience. My suspicion is that it is like being around "know it all" horse people. Perhaps the staff did not properly acknowledge the customer's incredible breadth of firearms knowledge. This is my favorite shop in the metro area. They have a good selection, and their prices are typically around 10% over cost. more

WORST SERVICE EVER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 3/15/2011

This store sucks. The guys (idiots) working there never seem to have the time to help you when you come into the store. It seems that it is a good ole boys store and if you don't want to stand around telling B.S. stories you aren't worth it. trying to get someones attention is next to impossible, I wonder why they don't have more shoplifting issuses. It seems like everytime I go in to get something they want to bait and switch what I am doing. If I ask for a .357 158gr. fmj don't try to sell me 38 special.......... I have a vast knowledge of firearms and now what I need. I have purchased several firearms over the years from this store when the Dad ran the place. Now the son has ran it into the gutter. Several friends have bought firearms from this store on my recommendation, so now the same friends have been told of my disapointment in this place. I truely think the owner needs to revisit his staff and FIRE THE WHOLE LOT OF THEM !!!!!!!!! And read some of the write ups about YOUR BUSINESS.. GET A CLUE. more

Do not go here!!!!!! 3/14/2011

These guys suck. This is by far the worst gun store I have ever been too. I have spent thousands of dollars here over the years and I still don't get the time of day when I walk in. There are always a group of employess standing around doing nothing but ignoring people that walk in the door. When I did get someone to talk to it is clear that they have no idea what they are talking about and I was always treated with very little respect. I highly recommend you drive out of your way to a gun store that is not as overpriced and not run by a bunch of a$$holes. It absolutely amazes me that this place is still in buisness. If the owner had half a brain he would either fire the idiots he has working there or have someone explain to him what the phrase "customer service" means. You will be much more satisfied buying a gun at Walmart rather than this joke of a gun store. more

Knowledgable staff , great prices 2/28/2011

I have been here a few times and they have always treated me well. Their prices are great and the knowledge of what gun would best suite me was dead on. I also like that they are so close to the highway it makes them easy to get to from anywhere. more

Great selection, great prices, great people 11/14/2010

I hesitated to visit this store because of the reviews here but I went anyway to see for myself. I made a total of 3 trips in 3 days looking to buy my first rifle. The staff was attentive, polite, and very informative answering my beginner questions being new to rifles. They greeted me when I walked in but left me be as I walked through the store. I never stood at the counter for more than a minute without at least being acknowledged that someone would be with me and this was on a Friday and Saturday so they were busy. They even asked my wife if she needed help as she patiently waited for me. Their consignment rifle selection was the best out of all the stores I visited including local shops and the big box stores. I decided on one of their consignment rifles and the sales person went over every inch of the gun with me making sure I knew what I was looking at and took the time to explain the significance. I walked in as an informed shopper and walked out with exactly what I wanted at a price that rivaled any online sale I could find. I don't know what the people who posted negative comments were expecting but when I'm looking to buy another gun I'll be heading to Green Mountain guns first. more

horrible 11/5/2010

dont go here worst place EVER! more

Poor Service 10/21/2010

If I could rate Green Mountain Guns zero stars I would. When you enter their shop, although there always seems to be 6 or 7 employees working there it is impossible to get anyone to help you, as they seem more interested in standing around talking to each other. If you do manage to get someones attention to look at a weapon they offer no information at all about the gun, nor do they ask you any questions in regard to what you are looking for in order to point you in the right direction. When I went in recently to have a friend, who is extremely knowledgeable about semi automatic rifles examine a DPMS rifle I was thinking about purchasing, the idiot behind the counter would not let us disassemble the gun AT ALL to see the condition it was in. If this is your policy regarding people that are willing to pay you hundreds of dollars, maybe you ought to reconsider it. I wouldn't buy a car without looking under the hood, and I hope you wouldn't expect people to buy guns from you without letting them closely examine it. I won't be back. more

Are you kidding? 9/1/2010

The only thing I like more than going into a gun shop and being ignored (which you will get at Green Mountain Guns) is the old "lets place a crappy scope on a decent gun and inflate the overall price" game. That scam has been around forever boys. Get creative. Perhaps your average rube falls for this nonsense but anybody who has been around twenty mintues certainly knows better. You know a scam shop when the refuse to separate the two. You should be ashamed of yourself. more

Huge Selection Terrible Service 5/27/2010

I was trying to locate a specific type of shotgun. The salesman on the phone was very helpful and encouraged me to come down to the store. I went down to the store the next day. I stood at the counter for almost a solid 10 minutes without even a nod from anyone behind the counter. There was only one other customer at the counter in front of the pistols. The customer must have either been a celebrity or their best buddy because there were 2 salesman practically bending over to take it up the a** for this guy. When I did finally get the attention of the salesman I was given a one word answer to my question "no" and then he was right back to the other customer. I was not given any explanation as to why the salesman on the phone said they did carry a certain shotgun and I was not given enough time to find out if the store might carry something comparable. I had over $700 cash in my pocket but since I don't pack fudge I was unable to get their attention. Pros: Big selection of firearms to choose from Cons: Have to talk to the snobs behind the counter more

Probably the top gun shop in Denver 4/11/2010

The good folks at Green Mountain Guns truly make buying a handgun a pleasure. They spent about two hours with me surverying and handling a wide array of 45 cal handguns. I walked into the shop expecting to buy a Glock, and after testing new the Springfield XD-m, S&W, Glock, and Ruger handguns, I walked out of the shop with a used HK USP 45 cal. The HK just offered several distinguishing features that made the handgun more versatile for me, i.e., cocked and locked safety mode with decocking feature. Many thanks guys, I'll be back! Pros: Very knowledgeable staff and very patient with buyers. Cons: Only negative would be drive distance from my house more

Friendly cust. Svc, but No Military or any Discounts 3/8/2010

Great customer service, good selection of fire arms, and good prices - not Great, but good. I purchased a Springfield ,40 sub-compact and a 380 Kel-Tec. The prices are very good, but I would have thought a military or multi purchase discount would have been in order. Maybe the owner will reconsider to be more military friendly after reading this review, but then again I am only one and his business is booming. In any case, I will continue to give them my business. They were also very patient with me when I was looking at an old 22LR rifle and was dry firing it several times. Very courteous in informing me that dry firing the older rifles are not recommended. I felt bad I did not know this, but they didn't make me feel any worse than I already did. more

Not that great 2/4/2010

I love a gun store that does not have an on-site smith -- not really. I love a gun store that acts as if Kimber is the best 1911 ever made -- it is not. I love how they blue book your gun, and then offer a pawn shop price. I love how they told me my limited Para was basically crap, and my Luke Volkmann Custom was not that impressive -- please. These guys are snobs to the core; however, they are the wrong type of snob -- moronic and only dedicated to the products that they sell. Oh well, I will go to the Gun Room were there are actual people that know what the hell they are talking about, and they have one of the best smiths in the country working there, and he will not charge you for minor tweaks and fixes. Pros: Not Many Cons: A Lot more

I'm a long time customer 12/31/2009

I enjoy stopping in and looking at their stock and I have purchused many over the last decade. Decent consignments, reasonable on new guns and there are some employees who know what they are selling, professional and very helpful, hopefully the few who are not, will learn something from these who rock, as they who don't pass me over repeatedly actually sell me some great fire arms. Also a great place to transfer guns. My favorite place to go! Pros: reasonable prices, wide variety of new and used fire arms Cons: employees are great but there are a few who are lacking more
