I've eaten at some wonderful, authentic Indian restaurants in D.C. and had terrific meals made by Indian friends. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for GIC. Their food is merely ""good"" while it could be great. Their wine selection is extensive, and the affordable lunch buffet is a steal, but their core dishes lack something. The naan, or roti, is a flat bread baked in their special oven and it's delicious. The mild curry rice is flavorful and has perfect texture, yet the main curry dishes like lamb royal korma are a bit bland and heavy with sauce. If the spices and flavor were abundant, I think the curries could be outstanding. The staff is curt, professional and reserved.
Pros: breads, rice, wine selection
Cons: , heavy, greasy apps, staff
