Worth the money, if you want something nice or inexpensive 1/13/2012

We took two pieces to this store to be framed. I had noticed the very poor review but then also noticed the good ones. The poor one gave us some concern but we ended up trying them anyways because one of my wife's very close friends raves about them. We had one very nice piece of original art and a small print that we bought for $10 that was going to go into a back bathroom. The staff treated both as if they were magnificent pieces of art, which we appreciated. We talked with them about framing and prices. I didn't know that the price of a frame can vary per foot by as much as $80 or more. We explained our needs and ended up with a great $120 design for the piece for the back bathroom that is going to look great. We spend quite a bit more on the original because we want it to be a display piece above our bed and fell in love with a very nice frame and matt combination. The staff was helpful to suggest other frame options that would look good and perhaps save us some money but we really liked the one we choose. It was worth a little more to get exactly what we wanted. Great folks who obviously aren't there just to pick your pocket. We can't wait to get the pieces and enjoy them both. I strongly suggest you try this place and if you want to frame on a budget let them know. They sure seemed like they were able to meet whatever level we wanted to spend. more

Great experience 9/7/2011

I have had a few items framed in the past and recently took a few more to this location. We recently moved to town and are looking for new businesses to deal with. The folks here were fantastic. Custom framing isn't cheap but I actually thought that they were quite a bit less than what I have spent in the past. Maybe the other poster has never framed before but they did a great job, did it on time and it looked great. I would say if you are on a budget, or you think the price they quoted was too high, mention it and I am sure they will work within your means. Good work to them and hopefully I'll have more for them to do in the future. more

Don't believe the other reviews 3/18/2011

I have been a customer of this stores for quite some time and recently stumbled upon this review site and was stunned by the review from srcre because I do framing in various parts of the country with my travels and the Great Frame Up on the Mainline is very fairly priced. It is easy to spend a lot of money on framing because some things can get expensive, but this place has the most fair prices I've found and I frame things regularly. So in looking, srcre doesn't have any other reviews at all so I'm guessing it's a hatchet job by someone who has it out for this store and it's great people (competitor maybe? Shame on you!). Go visit with the folks here and have them work up a piece for you and you will see that they aren't overpriced at all. If you want to spend less just ask them for other options, that's all. more

Overpriced by 400%! 5/28/2010

I went to The Great Frame Up with two pieces to have framed. I had bought framing services before but only small, not very important pieces. I was astounded when they gave me a quote for over $1700 just for one of the pieces. So I investigated a bit and went to 2 other frame shops and had them quote on nearly exactly the same scenario. 2x matting, archival, museum glass, bold frame with some distressed gold leaf. I ended up paying only $374.58 for BOTH! Like I said the exact same thing for $1400 less. I asked the other framer why he thought The Great Frame Up was so over prices- he was puzzled and said that ""We all us the same materials"". Any way. The pieces look wonderful, are beautifully crafted and I saved myself enough to re-frame several more pieces. I've told this story to many of my friends and to be sure to avoid the grossly inflated prices at The Great Frame Up. Pros: Nice People Cons: Way, way, way overpriced. more
