Grass Patch Inc

The Grass Patch installed the sod in the front yard for my new Standard Pacific home I had built. The sod they put down is full of weeds. I spend about an hour each night since moving in (2 weeks now) and I still haven't pulled all the weeds. Also, before we closed, they came out to do some work on the sprinklers they installed and they replaced some patches of sod. Each piece of sod they replaced is dead. I have brown rectangles all over the yard. I know Standard Pacific went the cheapest route to get the sod installed, but I would steer clear of having The Grass Patch do any work at your house. I will very likely have to hire someone to come out and tear all of the grass out and do the job correctly. I recommend getting Surface Scapes, from Temple, for your sod needs. They laid sod in my backyard and were very professional. Two weeks later and not a single weed and the grass is as green as when they installed it. We had grass patch do some work for us a few years ago and we were pretty happy. The next year we needed some more work done and left a few messages for our estimator from the prior year. He never called us back so we finally contacted another estimator with the company and after some cancellations, no shows, and no bid we finally gave up and did the work ourselves. We've also purchased sod from them on a few different occasions when Home Depot is out and it is always inferior in quality. The last time we purchased sod we were very unsatisfied because the HD sod we planted along with it was doing much better. I explained the situation to them and asked for a credit towards some new pieces and they didn't seem eager to help. They said they could have somebody come out in 2-3 weeks to evaluate the sod. We are getting our house ready to put on the market so I declined and said I will wait for Home Depot to get more. That didn't bother the gal helping me at all and she didn't offer any more. Needless to say, I am done with The Grass Patch. If you are looking for a bid or for some sod I would recommend looking elsewhere. If you can get them to come out they do decent landscaping work. Pros: Adequate landscaping and price. Cons: Sod, customer service. more
