Located just outside of Raleigh and on the very edge of Cary, Grand Asia Market is an interesting shopping experience. They have a lot of fresh produce that you won't find in a normal supermarket (e.g. fresh lemon grass and purple basil), which is an especially helpful feature if you want to make a dish that's even remotely off the beaten path. The also have lots of exotic fresh seafood, like squid and octopus. Aside from fresh food, they have lots of prepared food, condiments, cookware, snacks, utensils, and beverages imported from countries like Japan, Thailand, South Korea, China, and Vietnam. Make a special effort to try some packaged noodle dishes, they cost barely more than the ramen in the grocery store and taste four times better. Chances are, if you ate something while traveling in Asia and have been frustrated trying to find it back home, you can find it or its ingredients at Grand Asia Market.
