Grand Asia Market

We make the 40-mile drive over to Cary once a month to visit friends and never miss the opportunity to go to Grand Asia. I grew up in the South with a big garden in my backyard and I love a place that sells lots of varieties of very, very fresh produce. I make a commitment every visit to try something new, and so far I have discovered many fabulous new greens, fruits, other vegetables, and herbs. It is THE place in the Triangle to get whatever ingredients you need to make Asian dishes. I love the fresh seafood as well. I find the prices very reasonable and considerably less on most things I buy than at the local chain groceries. It's definitely worth the trip! more

I went there to purchase some Chinese dumplings and I must say that they did carry the brand I like so I can't complain about that. They have a large frozen food section. They do sell Chinese veggies and have a fresh fish market in site. And they do have a large variety of snacks and other Asian food items. The negatives about this place: 1. Vitasoy is way overpriced at $3.79 per six pack. 2. I wished they carried more brands of soymilk. 3. Bakery is pricey. 4. The fresh tofu-fah (tofu dessert) was not worth $2 for a small container. more

Grand Asia Market is a great place to find Asian and other "foreign" ingredients. It has items that I can't find at other asian markets so it makes more sense to just go there in a one stop shopping. They have a seafood department with fresh fish on ice and also live tilapia and catfish. Their live crabs are huge and very tasty. They also have cuts of meat you can't get at a regular grocery store. The meat prices are pretty good too. They have fresh noodles in the refrigerated section that are really good. If you want ramen, Sapporo Ichiban, is the best brand to buy. It is the most popular in Hawaii and people eat the hard noodles raw too. They're like tasty crackers. They also have a bakery with great cakes and tapioca drinks. They have an area where you can buy their freshly made tofu besides eating lunch there too. There are areas to buy chinese herbs and some odds and end furniture (not huge items) but some sizable. It is a great place to experience. I'd suggest looking for a tasty looking asian recipe online then make it a field trip to Grand Asia Market to find the ingredients. more

Located just outside of Raleigh and on the very edge of Cary, Grand Asia Market is an interesting shopping experience. They have a lot of fresh produce that you won't find in a normal supermarket (e.g. fresh lemon grass and purple basil), which is an especially helpful feature if you want to make a dish that's even remotely off the beaten path. The also have lots of exotic fresh seafood, like squid and octopus. Aside from fresh food, they have lots of prepared food, condiments, cookware, snacks, utensils, and beverages imported from countries like Japan, Thailand, South Korea, China, and Vietnam. Make a special effort to try some packaged noodle dishes, they cost barely more than the ramen in the grocery store and taste four times better. Chances are, if you ate something while traveling in Asia and have been frustrated trying to find it back home, you can find it or its ingredients at Grand Asia Market. more
