Office staff is rude, blames patient for their mistakes 7/6/2010

The office staff was rude and unhelpful. I had just moved to LA when I heard from my previous gyno that my pap was abnormal and I needed a colposcopy ASAP. I originally scheduled a colp with Dr. Gonzalez's office for the next week, but with my insurance running out (and I was paying for COBRA), they found time to schedule me the next day instead. However, I explained that I was still on my period, but that it was ending and there was just light spotting. Was that okay? The office said sure, light spotting would be fine. But once Dr. Gonzalez started the colp she said it was NOT okay because what's light spotting to me was still fairly heavy bleeding to her. She couldn't do the colp, and they scheduled me for another appointment. Now, I don't have a job and I only kept my $500-a-month COBRA insurance because I was scared of what the abnormal pap could mean. I was furious that I just paid a $25 office co-pay for an office visit that turned out to be a waste of time. I asked if I had to pay another $25 next time since I didn't receive the service they had scheduled me for. The receptionist rudely said, ""You still got to see the doctor, right?"" ""Yes, but she didn't do the colp, and there's no way I would have come in had I known she couldn't do it."" She said, ""I told you only light spotting was okay."" I said, ""Yes, but you never said that what was light spotting to ME was NOT light spotting to the doctor."" She said only, ""You still have to pay,"" ending the conversation. I feel the office staff should have known better, or at least acknowledged that I had a point. They should have known that a colp shouldn't be performed unless the period is absolutely over instead of wasting my time and money. And they shouldn't have made me feel like the whole thing was my fault when they themselves told me to go ahead and come in. Since I had to pay another $25 anyway, I went with another doctor. Pros: She seemed knowledgeable Cons: Her staff is horrible more

Worst Staff Ever 4/1/2010

Dr. Gonzalez's would be more successful dr if she hired new staff. Her front desk staff are so rude and disgruntled - it unfortunately reflects on Dr G and the whole experience. Cons: Staff / Front Desk / Response Time / Attitude more

if you can, avoid the front desk 9/10/2009

Dr. Gonzalez came highly recommended by friends and my internist. The first time i went to her i had to wait 45 nminutes for her to give me an annual pap. This is b/c she was catching up with one of her other patients. Even though i do not doubt that she is knowledagble and kind, her front desk staff are 2 people i would not like to encounter anywhere on the street. They are rude, impatient, and could care less if you are having a twins, tripplets, or dying in their office. To get an appt. or tlak to the doctor is like making an appt. to see the president himself. They have told me themselves that the doctor is too busy, and that if ""i think that they are just sitting around doing nothing"" i should go somewhere else...yes, that is exactly what you will have to deal with when you speak to the front desk. Plain and simple, dont go there. Cons: hard to get a hold of..... more
