BE CAREFUL! HIGHLY OVERPRICED ITEMS. DISHONEST SALES PEOPLE 1/9/2007

Severely overpriced items. I found out I was 25-40% overpriced on a pair of lenses; same pair of lenses in Pittsburgh, or New York cost me $200-210, at Golden Optical $270. Cons: sales staff wants you to buy the most expensive lense; even when you do not need it or it is not appropriate more

friendly, thorough exam 10/26/2006

I had a contact lens fitting and glasses exam at Golden Optical. Dr. Nelson and the staff were extremeley friendly, knowledgable and helpful with my insurance benefits. This was my first time fitting toric contact lenses, and Dr. Nelson tried out 3 different types of lenses until he was satisfied with the comfort and vision correction. The office was clean and nice, and the frame selection was extensive. Pros: nice frame selection, friendly Dr. Cons: downtown, so parking may be difficult more

The Best Costomer Service I Have EVER Recieved 7/14/2005

I was fussing being the brat I am in search of a specific brand of glasses. After what seemed an endless websearch I came across Golden in Portland. Not expecting any different I called-They are the only eye care center of over 50 I called in Oregon and Washington who this popular brand. A sweet and very helpful young man to say the least answered all my questions. Between snags with time, insurance, and even questions after hours he beyond to help. For all of which I was greatful since I live about 45 minutes from the office. If needed I would travel that distance and further-it is definatly worth it!! I saw a past review and cannot imagine it being for the same office. I do suggest visiting the office to experience and expect satisfaction. They are my new eye care center. Pros: selection, great staff, reasonable Cons: high traffic area more

I don't know what that ""negative"" review is about. I have been going to Golden Optical since 1990. I have highly recommended this optical shop to my family, friends, and co-workers. Dr. Nelson is the most skilled optometrist I have ever visited and he has the BEST equipment, trained staff, and slection of high fashion frames in the state. I KNOW hey don't make you buy expensive glasses as when I lost my job they helped me stay well BELOW my budget. It's a family owned optical shop that cares about their patients , staff, AND the community. If you haven't tried Golden Optical I would tell you it is time. You will NEVER WANT TO GO ANYWHERE ELSE AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!! Pros: skilled doctor, highly trained staff, exceptional selection Cons: NONE! more

The best! 10/23/2004

I've been going to Golden Optical for about fifteen years, and my daughters are clients, as well. Long ago, there were some rude staff members, as mentioned in another review, but now they have a crackerjack staff that is so very helpful and understanding. Service is fast, the staff is flexible and caring--I'm very pleased and would never change! Pros: Vision correction!!, Good advice, Price conscious more

Very prompt, top of the line techical tools for eye exams, and the doctor was very nice and accomodating. I loved my experience with Golden Optical. more
