We love Dr. Katz! She cares so much about all of my dogs, but she is also very serious about what should and should not be done; how quickly; etc. She is very much in control of their health and well being. I do whatever she tells me. And however quickly she tells me to do it. She is always spot on. And my 3 dogs LOVE her. She is great about little things and also excellent about the very serious things. I can't say enough about her. Everyone at Gold Coast comes to say hi to my dogs, and they know them and pet them and welcome us; Julie, Ann Marie, Dr. Reece, everybody! more

Top Notch Care and Knowledgeable! We Love Dr. Katz! 12/27/2011

I have been taking my dog to Gold Coast for over 5 years now. My dog has experienced all kinds of accidents and illnesses along the way. Dr. Katz is AMAZING. She really cares about animals and makes sure she gets to the bottom of anything that is wrong with my dog. She also doesn't hesitate to discuss the case with the head of the practice, Dr. Reece. He has been practicing forever, and is absolutely an amazing resource. I see him when Dr. Katz is not available. He has come in the room and drawn pictures of what is happening internally with my dog to make sure I understand. Dr. Reece lives above the practice and has opened early for emergencies. He is a kind man and cares more about animals than money. \r \r Dr. Katz always makes time for my dog, and for me! I have even sought advice (independently) from specialists when my dog had a particular illness, and the specialists said they knew of Dr. Katz and Dr. Reece, and I was in good hands. There may be fancier animal hospitals out there with bigger names, but I would challenge any vet's abilities to the knowledge and care provided by Dr. Katz and Dr. Reece. They are loving caregivers and excellent practicioners. \r \r Sometimes the front desk staff aren't as friendly as one would expect, but they are actually all very caring and LOVE animals. I highly recommend this practice overall. more

Gold Coast Animal Hospital - Chicago 3/31/2008

Animal Lovers Beware!! - We took our healthy young female cat (Sallie) in to Gold Coast Animal Hospital on March 31, 2008 for a routine spaying. Four hours later Dr. Cohen called to say she was dead. The explanation was ""we don't know what happened"". Needless to say this is heartbreaking and infuriating. Someone did not do their job and our beloved cat paid the price. \r \r Perhaps we should have expected trouble when we were diercted ""to bring the cat in at 7:30am"" only to find that they did not open until 8 a.m. \r \r Not only did they not carry out a routine recommended procedure successfully, they also failed to perform when it was clear that something was wrong and there was an emergency situation. They failed to perform twice. \r \r Our cat was 8 months old and in perfect heath. God bless any animals being taken to these doctors that are sick. Someone did not to their job by either not paying attention, acting too slowly, not knowing what to do, or a combination of these.\r \r This conduct is unforgivable. Please think about these things before taking you pet to these people. We do not want anyone else to have to go through the pain we are experiencing. \r \r more

Best Vet and Staff in the Chicagoland area 6/8/2007

My dogs are uneasy about going to the vet and sometimes are nervous aggressive (growl) NOT HERE...They love this place and the people especially Dr. Kanarish and Jessi and we are sad that he has left. I have used the other Dr.'s as well as they are great too, but me and my pet kids loved Dr. Kanarish we moved to Aurora and still went downtown for him. I did try to find other vets in Aurora, but have not been nearly as satisfied. They're prices are reasonable too. Reception staff is great too, and I am comfortable with all of their techs especially Jessi-shes great. Good luck Dr. Kanarish. Pros: Understand that dogs are animals and not people with fur. Very patient-Pleasant- Listen well-Parking avail Cons: Dr. Kanarish left. more

GREAT DR. 1/20/2007

I've been taking my dog Zeus to him for over 4 years. Zeus just loves him-always gives him a kiss before we leave. Dr. Kanarish truely cares for the well being of my animal. He is not out to make more money off clients. He is honest and trustworthy and explains everything well. My doberman has had a couple of issues but Dr. Kanarish has always caught the problem before they became an expensive problem. I highly recommend Dr. Kanarish to anyone who is looking for a Dr. they can trust!!! Pros: They have parking and great hours Cons: I ALWAYS get put on hold when I call....... more

They really care about their patients. 7/30/2006

When my dog was a semi-emergency situation, they squeezed us in during the busy saturday morning and took care of the situation well. I called the other hospital next to this one since they opened earlier, but their reaction was absolutely outrageous, and I don't want to talk about it here. They simply don't care if your dog is suffering or not. They only care if you have an appointment. All A/H look fine until you experience something like this. Choose the one you can trust. I now trust this hospital and Dr. Kanarish a lot more than the other hospital. Pros: They really care about your pets. more
