Been to Genaros over a dozen times in the last six months. It is across the street and up a little ways on Park Road from CMC-Pineville. It is generally about 1/2 full when I go in. Seating is usually wherever you want, with most tables accommodating 4 and located next to the exterior windows. Ambiance is relaxed and everything is clean. You can see a fair bit of the cooking area behind the counter or you can watch the Spanish cable shows on the TV screens.
Wait staff is dressed in black, courteous, and generally attentive. I rarely have to ask for my glass to be refilled, and they usually visit and check on me several times during my meal.
Food is made fresh. Having never been to Peru, I can't speak to the authenticity of the dishes, but they seem to go from more traditional to mixing more ""American"" components like french fries. I've tried several of their items, although I usually go for the chicken or pork sandwiches or the Saltada. Meats are generally pulled rotisserie style and are tender. On the sandwiches, they are combined with fresh tomatoes, avocado, and other toppings. The meat can be a little on the salty side, but I generally use VERY little salt when cooking at home, so most patrons may not feel the same way. Spice level is low (I am from Asia, so again, others may disagree with what I call ""low""). I usually ask for hot sauce to accompany my order. It kicks up the flavor and adds a bit of juiciness on the rare occasion when the meat is drier than I like. They have two kinds of sauces, so try both and see which you like.
On lunch specials, you can get soup or salad with your entree. Conscious of my weight, I usually get the salad, but you should try the soup at least once. It is chick with a green broth base and has rice and vegetables in it. Squeeze in a little lime (not lemon!), and you can almost taste the tropical beaches of Peru in each spoon.
They have a dessert display, but I've always passed on it so I can't comment. They look good...
The only negative is parking, which is limited. I didn't remove a star because right now there are not enough patrons coming in to make parking (or seating) an issue. A restaurant this good will likely get very busy sooner or later, and then it might be a different issue. But right now, get in while things are great.
