thanks geek choice 12/19/2011

I needed my email. It?s the only way for me to constantly stay in touch with friends and family who?ve moved away. When it went down, words cannot describe the frustration. When the Geek Choice tech showed up, my scream could probably be heard by the neighbors. He showed me what had happened and even recovered emails that I thought had been deleted. I was so thankful that I hugged him! more

great people 11/30/2011

I am always hesitant to let strangers into my home, but I needed someone to fix my computer. The Geek Choice tech was pleasant and helpful, and I didn’t feel uncomfortable as he worked on my computer. He’s welcome in this house anytime. more

loved it, will use again 11/21/2011

The last time I needed a technician to come out here, I had to schedule the visit a week in advance. Geek Choice had a technician that lives right down the block from me, and he was able to come in an hour. That kind of convenience is worth paying for. more

they fixed my broken camera 11/15/2011

I bought a brand new digital camera for school, just starting a new photography class and I don’t know anything about them. So I needed a professional. I called Geek Choice and they sent out a very professional, knowledgeable technician and he showed me step by step on how to upload my pics and put them in a Gallery on my computer. more

I could not tell for sure, but as a person who with some regularity checks their reviews online, they seem to be trying to run away from bad reviews. Well, if there were not unhappy people with their service, they would not have to spend energy on that. I know you already know, but always do your research before hiring someone! One good place to start? Better business bureau. If you look around you will notice most of their 5 stars rating (from the other CitySearch page since this one is brand new) came from people with very low computer technical knowledge who are very happy that they came to their places super fast? You will also find my reviews, I still cannot let it go. Latest update: after knowing that the issue was my hard drive I got one in MicroCenter (Awesome place), replaced it myself and my PC is like new :) My experience: in summary, if you need somebody to run an antivirus or clean your system a little bit, you may be safe. If you think that's worth 100 bucks per hour. They do have good technicians. At least one. The one who came to help me the second time and in a matter of minutes diagnosed a faulty hard disk did know what he was doing. He charged $75, but he found the issue with my PC. However, if you are unlucky, may end up with someone like the one who came the first time... removed something here, delete this, clean that, try to work around something without attacking the root of the issue. Never was able to find an issue with my hard drive (which the other guy found immediately), charged me $100 and did not fix my PC. The worst part? When I called Geek Choice about it they said they would give me a $100 credit for future services. Hey but what if I do not want any further services from you? Well, though luck, the first guy did help speeding up a bit your PC.... but he did not fix it! well he fixed it a little bit, so it's gotta be worth 100 bucks... no, even the second technician said that he didn't really do anything... well that's our final decision, if you don't like it you are free to write a complaint. ... Thanks a lot. I will write a few. And a few reviews of the kind that when I see them, I immediately go somewhere else. more
