I love Gasthaus! 2/21/2010

Having lived in Germany, I can tell you that Gasthaus is a very authentic Bavarian restaurant. They have all the standard items you'd expect. \r \r I love the spaetzel and red cabbage. I'm not a fan of the dumplings (but that's just me). They have a solid line up of German beers on tap. The patio, while small, is very nice on a summer afternoon. They have a very good annual Oktoberfest party too. more

unfriendly management and not for families with kids 9/28/2009

I took my family with two kids for the oktober fest days. Sundays are suppose to be family days but the team is so unfriendly and not welcoming kids. they hate kids and just want to sell their drinks. never go there again. hmm.. another thing. dont believe in their flyers which says some promotion but will be different from them when you go there. you will mostly know it after you consume it and would get a very rude answer if you question them. Pros: nice hangout for drunkards and in secluded place Cons: no friendly management or team more

After many disappointing experiences eating in restaurants claiming they serve German food, I was absolutely thrilled to eat here! The atmosphere and location round out the picture to capture a little bit of Bavaria and the Black Forest in Minnesota! BUT the thing that will keep us coming back is the fantastic food and great personal service that the employees like Shawna give to every diner! Prices were fine, the wine and beer selections ample, and the feeling of being overseas again made me want to return as soon as I left my table...... Looking forward to Oktoberfest! Pros: Authentic German dining Cons: I had absolutely no complaints! more

This is a great place to eat authentic German food and drink really good beer! The setting is also nice and the place is fairly large. Great place for gathering with friends. more

German Restaurant 8/15/2008

Stillwater is known for it's German - European flare. Gasthaus Bavarian has great German food in true traditional style. You will not be disappointed. Friendly atmosphere and in the summer you can dine outside. Family owned. more

Fun place & great food! 12/13/2006

We come here for dinner once in awhile (and its always great), and we also go to the little festivals that they put on in the fall... with the polka bands, great food & beer... We recommend it to everyone! more

Yummy! This place has wonderful food! If you are looking for German cusine this is the place to go! The food is much better here than at the Gasthaus in NE Minneapolis, and the Oktoberfest at the Bavarian Hunter is a riot! HIGHLY RECCOMENDED! PROS: Great FOOD! CONS: What happened to service with a smile???? more

Love this place! 5/4/2005

We've been here many times, and everytime, the food is just as good. They are very constant, with great German cuisine. The beer battered walleye is excellent, as is the Knackwurst, and the schnitzels, and we can't leave out the beer! They have a traveling accordian player that wanders through the place. This place has great ambiance, and is good for medium sized groups. It can get somewhat loud, so it wouldn't be good if your looking for an intimate setting, but the food is out of this world! Their Oktoberfest celebration is awesome! PROS: Great food, good beer, Superb ambiance, Excellent waitstaff! CONS: Can get loud, not good for intimate settings. more

Great beverages & authentic German food 3/7/2003

I am not normally a beer fan, but the brews they have on tap are excellent. They are a perfect complement to everything on the menu. The authentic German choices are a wonderful change to standard restaurant fare. Outside dining and festivities in the summer are a treat. Pros: atmosphere Cons: remote location more
