I would warn anyone away from building a home with this business. I was warned by another very unhappy customer who had their home built by Future Homes in 2007. They listed numerous construction defects, poor communication, overpriced materials, shoddy workmanship. I chose to build my home, now with regret, with them. They completed my home, and the ""punch"" list was unbelievably long. I actually had to threaten a lawsuit to get things completed that Brent all of a sudden became ""unavailable"" for, and argued with me about. They did not paint my walls, paint my trim, stain my railings, and the tiles done on the bathroom floors were coming up less than two months after construction completion. My AC went out in 2012, and the tech that serviced it said he was surprised this type of unit was on an 1800 sq ft home, since the type Future Homes put in was used in MOBILE HOMES! Talk about cheap! My well failed in 2010, because Future Homes did not encase the well, and it collapsed. Another $6,000 spent. They did not finish out the concrete slab under the house, because Brent said it would be an additional $20,000 to do it (Apparently he thought he could start his kids college savings plan off of his ridiculous pricing), and he only brought this up AFTER the contract was signed, and I was given the impression that for $239,000, I could get a full slab. Another $4,500 for me to do that three years after the house was built. Painting my walls and trim (which was BS, because I picked out the paint color with one of Brent's employees. I found out it was TINTED PRIMER when I had a painter come in about two years later to paint a bedroom-talk about being really PO'd!) cost me another $3,000. Now that I have thrown in an additional $25,000 for contractual obligations Brent did not honor, shoddy work, and super cheap construction materials, I like my home. \r \r DO NOT USE THEM! They will rip you off royally. Go with a reputable builder that has integrity, cost measures and quality in their business model, because Future Homes does not. more

I built my home with Future Homes in Hampstead 2 years ago and have been very pleased with the whole process. Tom Russell handled everything from surveys to septic permits, and even helped us get the design of the home exactly right. We have been in our home for two years and still love it. We shopped around before buying and found Future Homes to be the most helpful before, during and after the sale. Jackie was especially helpful at the end of the job making sure everything was completed to our satisfaction, and then taking care of the minor service we asked for later. Definately will recommend to anyone that they visit Future Homes. more

4 years in this house is enough. Please dont buy from these guys. You need to look at my place before you buy. you can email me at tarheel6268@yahoo and I will show you what you are going to get. everything is coming apart. I am stuck with a 30 year house payment.. It will never make it. So if you are thinking about building with these guys, you need to think twice. I believe I have saved at least 20 people from them so far. more

We love our home 1/23/2012

We love our retirement home at the beach. Kenny was our project manager and Jackie was the on-sight construction manager. We brought our own plan to the table and Future Homes worked with us to convert the plan into one that would work and be cost effective. They even helped us to find a great construction/mortgage option. The modular construction was done by Nationwide in Martinsville, Va. We visited the Nationwide plant and were very impressed with the construction quality and the options they offer. I would urge anyone considering modular to visit a plant to see the quality construction that is used. We selected some standard features and quite a few upgrades also. We ended up with exactly the home we wanted and I believe that we recieved higher quality at a lower cost than we could have from a conventionally built home. Our home looks as good or better than the conventionally built homes in our neighboorhood. No one can believe that it is a modular home--modular homes are much different than they were in the past. Future Homes also provides folks that discuss any problems you may have after closing. We have received great service on that too. We moved into our home one year ago. more

Ver pleased 1/14/2012

My husband and I did a lot of research before deciding to work with Future Homes. We were debating using a local stick built contractor but we soon realized the value of using modular for our new home. Tom and Brent helped us to redesign one of the model homes and took care of everything from there. Kevin and Jackie were invaluable at the job site. Everyone did a wonderful clean job and we are very pleased about our choice. more

Future Homes 1/7/2012

We are having two homes built by Future Homes. My husband's background is electrican and plumbing and he is a perfectionist, checking everythig out before it is done, to insure that the work being done is quality work and quality products.........we have been pleased with the work on the houses so far, and look forward to living in the handicap accessible homes with our mothers. Tom and Brent are accessible to us and return our telephone calls immediately, when we have questions. So far, we are extremely pleased. more

No complaints 12/14/2011

4 years ago I had my beach home built with Future Homes. My home is wonderful and I have no problems whatsoever. Jackie did an excellent job and came back for service calls as needed, which I beleive was only twice. I live in my beach home full time and everyone that visits comments on how lovely it is. Thats when I reccomend they go to Future Homes! more

Buyer Beware! 12/7/2011

We bought and built our home with Future Homes out of Hampstead. We worked with Tom and Brent. They are both exceptionally nice guys until you sign the deal. Once we committed, they did not listen to our needs or wants at all. The day the house was laid we walked through and pointed out everything that needed to be worked on. Tom wrote everything down but never fixed a single thing from the list. The tile job was unbelievably bad, with randomly cut size pieces scattered in the middle of long lines. At one point Tom said he would not get the tile guy to fix it because he didn more

beware of these guys. 3/23/2011

If you are looking for a new home, i suggust you go somewhere eles. These guys will promise you the world, and give you a lot of crap afterwards. I have had to replace almost every light fixture in the entire house. Also i replaced 6 light sockets. I now have to replace 3500$ worth of AC. Seems the one they put in is wrong and is suffocating the one i have in there. There is so much that I could list here, but i wont. Look the bottom line is this< dont waste your time with this company....just go ahead and buy you a cheap trailer, thats all you are getting here anyway. I mean when I can feel cold air coming up thru the floor... CHEAP stuff. I mean my 12 LB dog can walk across the floor and make my grandfather clock rattle...yea real stable.... more
