Great people great builders! We told them our dream and they built it. We love our house and it is our castle. Don and Cher are so wonderful to work with. They will guide you in a step by step process. Very experienced and they will work very hard to give you what you want and need. They work with your budget and give you a custom home not some cookie cutter house \r I highly recommend French Homes more

Some say building a house can cause a divorce, but not so for me and my wife. Our experience working with Don and Cher Groody on the design and construction of our home was a fun and exciting experience. Don and I worked for hours on the design, placement of the house on the lot and front entrance. We would bounce ideas off each other through e-mails and phone calls at all hours of the night, and end the end, it came out better than expected. Don and Cher are very knowledgeable people and both offered up many ways in which we could cut cost while still keeping the style we were after. These are some of the nicest people you'll ever meet, so if you get a chance to have these two build a house for you?..take it. more

I worked with Don Groody on the design and build of our home on Lake Travis. Don was very attentive and responsive to our needs and desires. We challenged him to complete the house in a very short period of time and he came through as promised. I found him to be very knowledgeable and easy to work with and would recommend him and French Homes to any new home buyer. more

Five years ago....my husband and I were in search for a builder to build our dream home. We were so excited.......and, after an extensive search, we were truly blessed to find Don Groody & French Homes. We were treated like we were the only ones building a French Home at the time....and I know for a fact, that was not the case. Don sat with us for hours on end.....met us during hours that were convenient for us......assisted us on every decision that needed to be made...from our building site to the color of stone...cabinents, stained concrete....everything! He went out of his way to make our building experience a fantastic, personal experience.......we loved it! It was so much fun, I would love to do it again, if Don were our builder. My experience rates French Homes as truly outstanding! I only wish I had known this builder 3 years earlier. When I met Don Groody (President & Chief Builder) my custom house & site project was already in progress, about 50% complete (original builder terminated). Finding a qualified builder to take on such a project at this incomplete stage and agree to complete it, was next to impossible, and so I regard my introduction to Don & French Homes as nothing short of ""a God thing."" The unparalleled professionalism, honesty, integrity, quality of workmanship, native intelligence, talent, & skill, brought what was becoming an utter disaster to a gorgeous and very happy completion. My husband and I bought our dream home site 10 years before we built. Luckily, our site is very special in that it enjoys one of the last un-built wide body views of the large basin of Lake Travis. I've purchased two homes from French. The second home is a product of French Homes and HomeTown builders - their custom home arm.\r I've worked directly with Don Groody - owner and builder. I had aspirations of designing my own home. Don Groody has designed many homes and is capable of doing architectural drawings by hand, which is really quite impressive. Don worked tireless with me (for months) to get the floor plan right, bid and cost that plan, and then make adjustments to bring it back into budget. He was also critical in screen perspective property locations for my custom home - by far, he did the best job of any builder or GC that I've talked with, reviewing soil, elevation, and pulling topographic maps to verify drainage.\r Our home is 90% through with construction - we've designed something traditional looking, but has very modern elements including complete foam insulation and solar panels. Price for the custom was well within the range that most spec homes sell for in the area and we've gotten exactly what we are after.. And within budget. \r \r Note, there is another on warranty issues ""post sale"" - my first home, we had one warranty issue, it was resolved immediately upon being reported. On resale of that home - and out of warranty - Don resolved inspection issues that probably were not valid issues but were brought up by a very ambitious inspector. We were 100% out of the warranty period and I had *not* signed any commitment to work with French homes on the next house, but he had all of the buyers concerns resolved within one week. Pros: Highly experienced builder. Super reasonable cost customs.. If it can be done on your budget, these guys can do it. Cons: None. more

I have found that this builder has not lived up to their responsibilities when it comes to their warranty work. When I submitted a list of things that needed to be fixed or repaired I have gotten no satisfaction. The only response I get from them is that I have to contact their subcontractors myself to have any repairs done, only to get no response from the subcontractors.\r One of the many things I reported to them was a hole in my roof and they informed me to contact their roofer who in turn never came out to fix any of the holes, which in turn has now created mold in my home.\r This is just one example of what has not been fixed or repaired after submitting my list of things that needed to be corrected before my one year was up. more
