Interesting even if you aren't a history buff 3/24/2006

My husband and I went to a special event at the Frazier Historical Arms Museum and we were very impressed. The exhibits are all high quality with signs explaining the history behind them. They have tons of cool guns and other weapons, and they these life-like battle reenactment scenes scattered throughout. It really brings history to life. There are little "movie theaters" where you can view videos about how guns were made back in the day and other topics. The museum is a good size...we went through it at a moderate pace and saw (but did not have time to read) nearly everything. It took us a couple hours. You could easily spend more time there (we'd like to go back). You can also get headphones that give you an audio tour (but we didn't do this, so I don't know what that is like). Definitely recommended for both kids and adults! more

Great stop if you want the kids to learn something. Very cool exhibits will strike a chord with kids. The exhibits are very interesting so it won’t leave the kids or adults bored at all. A lot of hands on activities are what makes it so fun. Recommended for a fun learning experience! more

Guns, Guns, Guns! 8/15/2005

For anyone with an interest in firearms and historical weapons, this is the place. The Frazier houses collections of American weaponry as well as a collection from the Tower of London. This is a well organized and well run museum, with helpful and friendly employees. The museum itself can be overwhelming in it's size, so these are big bonuses. The highlights of my visit were the British weaponry and a swordfight played out for a small audience of museum goers. The duel was historically accurate and the "actors" were very open to questions and stoppped several times to explain what they were doing. I found it quite interesting and I would highly recommend this show. The main drawback about this museum, for me, was the neverending displays of guns. After awhile it becomes a tad boring, even for me (and I am quite interested in historical firearms). My recommendation is to count on getting tired of guns near the end of your self guided tour and skip what you don't find interesting near the beginning. more

Frazier Historical Arms Museum 8/2/2005

The Frazier Arms Museum is housed in three stories and more than 74,00 square feet in downtown Louisville. Its is one of the greatest collections of arms, armor and related historical artifacts in the world. You can take a virtual tour on their website www.frazierarmsmuseum.org. Don't miss Daniel Boone's bible, and Teddy Roosevelt's big stick. more
