Fox Lake Animal Hospital

I adopted a six year old Beagle with major dental issues from Animal House Shelter in Huntley. I took the dog to his required vet exam at Animal Care Clinic in Algonquin. At the exam were told that the dog would need at least three teeth extracted and a major cleaning. The price they quoted just for the anesthesia and the radiograph was $450.00. This price did NOT include the extractions or medication. I researched on the internet and found this site and read the reviews. I called Fox Lake Animal Hospital and made an appointment. The staff was excellent and the dog received his cleaning, extraction and medications for $147.00. The do take appointments for surgeries and dentals but they do not take appointments for routine things such as vaccinations. Fox Lake is a drive (I live about forty minutes away) but it is well worth it. Pros: Great Staff, Reasonable Prices Cons: None more

I have been bringing my dog Rex here since 2000 when I moved back from San Diego. My neighbor recommended them to me and I have been bringing Rex here ever since.\r They are without a doubt the best veterinary facility around. Rex has developed CHF in the last couple of years and Dr Rudowski and Dr Max have been great through the whole experience. Now it's time for Rex to sleep and making this decision is the hardest decision I can possibly ever make. This is the only place I can bring him to because their compassion and empathy for the owner is beyond my expectations of an animal hospital.\r I will miss my Rexie forever but now Diego will be their new patient and I know that he will get the same care and concern that they had for Rex.\r My recommendation to anyone looking for a super vet is to make the drive or the time to become part of the Fox Lake Animal Hospital family and you will never be disappointed.\r Thanks to everyone there I know Rex will be in good hands when he goes to h more

I got a quote for my dog for over $4000 to fix his leg bc it was broken. not to mention the first visit was over $400 bc it was an emergency clinic. My cousin recommended taking the drive from Carol Stream to Fox Lake and it was worth it. Dr. Rudowski is amazing, He told me my dogs leg should heal with a cast just fine. and 6 weeks later, his leg is healing, his cast came off and now hes left in a splint. 2 more weeks and he will go back and get the splint off and be ok... My dog LOVES the staff there (not the other dogs however) Well worth the waits on my Saturday mornings... There are so many employees there trying so hard and so fast to make sure everyone is happy and all dogs get the proper treatment they need, with out spending an arm and a leg.... 6 weeks ago, I thought I was going to have to put my dog down because I couldnt afford surgery on his leg. It tore my life apart. Now 6 weeks later, hes improved 110% and cant wait until the day he will be able to walk again without more

Well worth the wait!! Decent prices!!! Excellent Doctors!!! I always feel I'm doing the very best for my cats by taking them to the Fox Lake animal hosp. Sometimes I wish I could go their for my own health care needs. more

I have frequented this establishment for over a decade now. I have 5 pets: 2 cats and 3 dogs. One is very old and has many health issues. I have been great advice for taking care of this old fellow, along with the usual care/shots for my other pets. Dr. "R" and Dr. Dan are my top choices for vets there...although I have never a bad experience with any of the vets or staff there.\r My advice to anyone going there is to bring a book, magazine, bills to pay or something else to pass the time while visiting here. Your wait may be short or pretty long...depending on number of clients signed in for that day. Time can be passed by talking to other patrons of this place ...the majority of people and their animals are very friendly! \r If you live nearby...you would be wise to pop in and check the sign in list...this will help you decide whether you want to stay an wait for an appointment. My 12 year old dog was having some vomiting issues and when I removed his collar I found a lump on his throat. When I went to his local vet in the city. they wanted to do a biopsy send it out and wait for results. They also suggested several other tests to "rule out" this or that. A friend in Antioch suggested I take his to Fox Lake quite a trek from my home in Lakeview. However, I am glad I did. Dr. R examined my dog and said we could do a biopsy however, because the mass was affecting his health, if it were his dog he would "take it out and send it in for testing." I really appreciate that he empathized with my problem and gave a recommendation from the heart instead of the wallet.After the exam I was able to schedule surgery for the following day and asking the technician what my bill was she replied that the consult before surgery would be n/c and remarked in humor that I obviously lived in the city.I have taken my elderly dog back a few times since and although there is a wait due more

My local vet quoted me $1200 for the surgery my dog needed. I was recommended to check out Fox Lake Animal Hospital because of their low prices. The vet in town charged me $45 for the presurgery consultation, where Fox Lake charged me $0. I was pleasantly surprised with the cleanliness of the rooms, the friendliness of the staff and the patience of the doctors. I was especially impressed with the surgery scheduling gal who gave me all the time I needed to ask questions. My dog underwent two mammary gland removals, one lumpectomy and spaying for $410.00. Even though it is first come first serve, the wait was not bad. My only disappointment was when I called the hospital after my dogs surgery and the next morning after the surgery to check on her and they referred to my dog by the surgery that was done, rather than her name. I live in Chicago, so Fox Lake Animal Hospital is a hike. However, if one of my dogs has a health issue beyond just the typical everyday stuff, I take them there. Dr. Rudowski and Dr. Max are no-nonsense country vets that have helped heal my dogs of various injuries and illnesses that several vets in the city either couldn't diagnose properly or would have charged triple for treating. I have been taking my dogs to Fox Lake Animal for several years now after having terrible experiences with other Vets. Dr Rudawski and Dr Groberg are remarkable doctors and surgeions and well worth the sometimes very long wait to see (they don't make appointments...first come, first served) I have nothing but praise for them and their support staff. I did have problems with other Vets working here and always request either of them, even if I have to wait longer. more

My dog needed surgery and everyone I called quoted over $2000.00 for the surgery, My friend recommended Fox Lake Animal Hospital they quoted me $500.00. I took her there for the surgery and no one could of done a better job for more money. Six months later she needed the same surgery on the other leg which of course they performed and she is walking like nothing ever happened. They are very busy therefore you might have to spend some time in the waiting room, however it is worth it. The prices for services at this facility are very reasonable. It is clean and the staff very caring and friendly. The only thing that is a negative is the fact that no appointments are accepted (walk-in's only), as a result the wait can be very lengthly. more
