Fort Bliss Rod & Gun Club

Appears that the Rod and Gun is under new ""Management""(??). As a Vet, disabled Vietnam Vet, very disappointed in this place today. Have been going there off and on for several years, but today all kinds of new rules. Went there with my Son (Iraq war Vet) and 17 year old Grandson. Have been teaching my Grandson about guns and shooting since he was about 12. He's an excellent shot with a rfle or pistol. Have been taking him to the R&G since he was 13. But the person at the counter today said that he had to have a certificate for a gun training course before he could even be on the range. ""Can not even sit in the vehicle and can't sit inside because he's not 21."" A very obnoxious person impressed with his own self importance. And a $9 fee for vets, retirees?? Thought this WAS a good place just to go shoot a few rounds with my Son and Grandson. Apparently not. more

well all i have to say is: After going to and hearing about the ranges out here in the austin area ive come to realize how nice el pasoans have it. Im born and raised el pasoan and didnt realize what a privalge it was to have the rod and gun club only 5 minutes away. but then i got a taste of the ranges here in austin... sigh-- i cant really use my new gun because the range i go to doesnt allow full metal jackets, and its too expensive to to buy 9mm soft rounds, and then all you can shoot at out here is paper targets!! aye que lastima, i never thought shooting at bottles and 50 gal drums could so desirable until now.. \r \r the rod and gun club is truly a unique place, the people are nice, they have a place to cool down and throw back a cold one, and you're not limited to paper targets.. and you can use your ammo not the $25 for 50 rounds of soft 9mm. oh what a place to be.. thankfuly i will be there in two weeks and i will always look forward to trips to el paso for food, family, and firearm fun!!! \r \r thank you Fort Bliss Rod and Gun Club for being there!! more
