Fitness Connection

Lots of advertising for $9.95/mo. When I went by to check, I learned that comes with a $99 enrollment fee. We have free facilities where I work, but it's across town. I just preferred going some place closer, but with the $99 fee, I opted not to join. Apparently, that was unheard of. I received 3 calls today, one with the GM. He asked me, ""Well, what made you think there would be no enrollment fee?,"" as if it was the stupidest thing he'd ever heard of. I explained that I didn't choose to enroll and had not been upset or offended, but now I was! He tried to crawfish, but believe me, by then, I'd seen enough. I went through the whole thing again with a 3rd caller, who said, ""Well, good luck!"" Although they have a great facility, they have very, very poor customer service. When they know you're not sold, they go straight for the RUDE mode. Explains why there are so many comments with a single star! more

Fitness connection in general is a cash cow, I have worked for them in the past, and I can tell you that their mission is sales first; quality and member satisfaction last. The memberships are the cheapest you will find any where, so if you are on a tight budget this is the place for you. Realize though, you get what you pay for, and you will be proselytized ""every"" time you go in. DO NOT under any circumstances purchase a personal trainer. I can not stress this enough. Their trainers are the most under-qualified in the industry. if you are investing 40 plus dollars an hour on a service you had better check that service providers credentials! Yet people seldom do. Look if you feel like you are being sold, you are. high pressure sales are high pressure for one reason and one reason alone, and that is... drum roll please... Profit! Yes, profit for the company, that fitness director sitting in front of you, is on commission only--though he will tell you otherwise. The Fitness manager at Baytown lies more than any person I have ever met, he has no soul, and he wants your money. more
