Pros: Friendly wait staff. Cons: Service is almost to fast!

Average food, a bit expensive, good service 10/27/2007

Fishmonger is located inside an old bank building. They did a nice job of redecorating and making it into a cozy restaurant. There is a small bar off to the left as soon as you enter, and the main dining room is to the right. As the name implies, fish is the house specialty. As I don't like seafood, I opted for the pecan encrusted chicken with mashed potatos and zuccini. The chicken was good and juicy. The pecans added a subtle flavor. It came with some kind of white sauce not listed on the menu that I could never quite figure out what it was. The mashed potatos were average, and the zuccini was a bit limp. One friend got the swordfish and really enjoyed his dish except for the mashed potatos. My other friend got the crab cakes he had been craving all day. Entree prices were under $20 for the most part, but I thought they were a few dollars overpriced for the quality of the food. $15 chicken better wow me, not just be ok. Fishmonger had a decent wine and beer list although we did not order any alcohol. When the host (possibly the owner) seated us, he realized the table was not ready. We akwardly stood there while he wiped it down and brought silverware. Service was attentive after that. The best little server was 14 and appeared to be the owner's son. He made one faux pas by trying to pour us water before we had glasses, but he was so cute we laughed it off. Pros: Friendly Service, Decor, Easy Parking Cons: Food Quality for Price more

Wonderful seafood wonderful service 8/16/2007

We tried this restaurant for the first time last week and I dont know which I was more impressed with the food or the service. Our waitress (can't recall her name - Michele maybe or Melissa?) gave us wonderful recommendations for both food and wine. She recommended the african prawns which were AMAZING, and the wine she recommended really made the flavors pop. Our entire party was impressed with the food, even our friend from London said that the fish and chips were incredible ""just as good as home"". I highly recommend this establishment - you will not be disappointed! Pros: Food quality and service Cons: Parking more

Worth a visit - you'll want to go back 8/11/2007

My family has been dining at Fishmonger since just after it opened. We've enjoyed oysters and a beer after work, many dinners or a variety of small plates before a night at the movies, etc. and we often take out of down vistors there. We have always had a wonderful experience. Fishmonger offers a nice selection of very fresh fish specials and a variety of other seafood entrees as well as amazing lamb and an exceptional filet. The calamari is some of the best we have ever had and we travel and dine out quite a bit. The atmosphere is perfect for anything from a casual dinner with a co-worker at the bar to a romantic evening in the dining area. The staff is friendly and attentive without being overbearing. The owner almost always speaks to us and is quick to make sure we are satisfied. I recommend this restaurant to anyone and hope you enjoy it as much as we do. Pros: fresh seafood, good atmosphere, great staff Cons: not open for lunch more

Overpriced 7/23/2007

The food overall was average, but overpriced for what it is. I shared the paella with someone and it was good, but did not offer much shrimp. Another person in our party ordered the spinach salad and was not worth the $10 at all. It was only spinach leaves with dressing and nothing else. The restaurant offers decent specials, but the specials are bar only so if you wish to participate in the special you will need to eat the food at the bar, which I find inconvenient. They are looking to drum up bar business and use this tactic. The parking lot leaves a lot to be desired. It is an old bank parking lot and needs to be redesigned to accomoate for more cars. For seafood I'd rather go elsewhere. Pros: Nice area, Interior Cons: Too pricey more

Great seafood! Highly recommend 9/16/2005

I just ate at the Fishmonger in Roswell with my wife, and man we're we impressed! The fish was fresh, the oysters were delicious, and the service was wonderful. I love how the owner was available and came to speak to us. I read the previous review and was shocked, we had the exact opposite experience. Pros: Great Ambience, Friendly staff more

one of the worst dinning experinces ever 3/12/2005

We were seated and then ignored by a wait person for 15 minutes. When the wait person showed up, we ordered glasses of wine and our meals. The wine did not arrive for over 15 minutes. Fifteen minutes later the food for one of our party of four arrived. After and hour we asked the wait person to check on our food. She returned an told us it was beining plated. She told us this at least three additional times over the next one half hour until the food finally arrived. The food was ok, but our evening was a bust. We have taken Fish Monger off of our eating places. more
