Horrible 11/3/2011

Fish Gallery.... I apologize if this place has changed owners in the last few years but this must be heard, maybe someone can track down the man that owns/owned it. I worked here a few years back and it's unfortunate that I moved out of state because I would have loved to shut this place down. I wont even go into detail about how I bought a $1000 bird and before I brought it home it was ""stolen"" and they filed a police report against me for allegedly stealing my own bird. What I would like to go into detail on is the animal abuse, cruelty, and illegal activity they engaged in while I was employed there. They didn't want to spend money on taking sick animals to the vet so they would either leave them in the back room to either ""get better"" so they could be sold, or would put live animals in the freezer to die a very slow, painful death. I brought one of the sick kittens home with me and tried to save it but it was too far gone at that point and after spending over $1000 at the vet it didn't make it, at least it's last days were with someone that loved and cared for it instead of being neglected and crammed in with 5 other sick kittens in a cold, dark back room. They also didn't want to spend money on taking their kittens to a vet to be vaccinated so they purchased the vaccines illegally and would ""train"" their employees to illegally vaccinate them, while telling us that one small mess up could kill the kitten. Also they had a rat and mouse infestation which they chose to ""clean up"" by bringing in a dog to find and kill whilst making a bloody, stinky mess in the store. This place sickens me and I hope that for the animals sake this place has changed ownership since I worked here a few years ago. If not and even if it has I hope someone investigates this and puts that cruel man in prison for a long time. more

Unhealthy animals 5/11/2011

I went in there last week and bought two guinea pigs.Yesterday I had to take them to the vet for an upper respiratory infection. This morning I went to buy more feed, and it was appallingly muggy and smelly in there! No wonder the guineas had lung infections! I also took a look at their rat cages and some of the poor things had bald patches! They do not treat their animals very well and it's practically abuse! Do not give your money to these people...you'll only be supporting animal cruelty.I'm shocked and disgusted. Just because they're rodents doesn't mean they don't deserve a nice healthy life! The service today was awful as well. The man who checked me out (I'm assuming the owner.Fat,bald, grubby) was not friendly. When I got my guinea pigs a very nice young man showed a lot of enthusiasm and cheer,he needs to work elsewhere and get more money for his fantastic demeanor. more

Owner needs a class in how to treat customers 12/23/2010

The customer service from the employee's is wonderful. They are very knowledgeable and nice - they even offered to carry my dog food out to the car for me. The OWNER on the other hand has horrible customer service, he is rude, looks unclean, unlocked the door but didn't bother to open it for the line of us waiting outside and appeared very stressed and the store hadn't even opened up yet.. Ya never get another first impression. Great store and I'm glad they are back in Renton- I'll only be dealing with the staff however.. more

PLEASE READ!!! RETURN OF ORIGINAL FISH GALERY 12/21/2009

The good old pet store that has been in Renton since 1974 is BACK!! The original owners of Fish Gallery have returned to Renton VIllage under the name Sierra Fish & Pets. Sierra Fish & Pets in NOW OPENED back up the Renton location. \r \r The store is stocked nicely, with lots of the pets people have known to love. place for pets!!! 9/7/2008

the employees there were so kind to me and was obvious they cared about the animals there. They are a bit pricey but it is orth it because they have the best brands my puppy loves the food!! Pros: great service Cons: going out of business more

Was among the best, now not worth stopping in. 9/1/2008

Yes, most of the employees there have the general appearance of your average heavy meth user and I certainly wouldn't let them babysit my kids - but hey, I'm there for dog food or fish supplies what do I care?\r That's where it gets bad. They have next to nothing to sell. The shelves look like pictures of grocery stores in the old soviet union - but at least there are no lines. Safeway has a better selection of pet supplies than this place.\r They used to have one of the better fish departments around, I'm not sure what happened.\r \r more

Bad services 8/26/2008

My daughter purchased a hamster but it was too big for the old cage since the first one died after 2 weeks. After reporting with the long hair tiny manager (first thing I can't believe he is a manger), he agreed let us have a credit by come back another day when they have a Dwarf Hamsters. He didn't give us any credit receipt and kept saying I got your name with the credit on the system and you are fine. First thing I thought it will be fine as he said since the price just $8.00. They got our name and will call us when the dwarf hamster in store. They haven't call ever. I don't mind to check offen weekly. It took mostly 2 months finally we saw the dwarf hamster, we are going to take it and my daughter was so happy since this one was look a like the last one. I told the cashier my name...they can't find it. They called the manager, same guy manager, he can't find it ??!!. He said our name were on the system was just want a hamster and didn't say a credit!! I feel angry for the staffs like this since I lost all my time to check for a hamster that my daughter love. I don''t came here to make a story just $8.00 dollars. I can do the charity and do donations for blind poor people, but I don't like these people take rid of me like this. They should have a better system or better staff people or hand a credit receipt than say "" ...you're fine and your name with the credit is on the system...we remember you...it's ok...""\r I don't like this store forever since I realize how bad customer service and how low service they are.\r TN\r \r more

PLEASE READ!!! sick animals, illegally vaccinizing kittens, providing fake documents 11/9/2007

After working at Fish Gallery for almost a year I finally quit after realizing just how low this place will go. They do not care for thier animals properly, they let sick animals die (usually by putting them in the freezer before they are dead) I have cradled a bird having a seizure, a rabbit dying because it wasn't eating, I even spent 1000 dollars trying to save a sick kitten they let sit in the back of the store (not to mention it was in the same cage as the other kittens going up for sale), if they had even bothered to notice it was sick it could have been saved. They illegally vaccinate thier kittens and provide fake documents stating that they were seen by a vet. After I quit I bought a bird from the store, went on vacation and when I came back to pick up my bird they accused me of stealing it, they called the police and accused me of stealing a bird that I BOUGHT, and no the bird was never found, no they didn't bother looking, and no I didn't get my 400 dollars back. Another thing that happened is the owner ran out of money and started giving the employees checks that bounced. This place sickens me, the only reason the owner still has it is because he gets a tax write off, he is driving this store into the ground and I hope he does it fast for the animals sake. more

Looks like they will be gone very soon 6/3/2007

The Fish Gallery in Renton, for the past 30 years has served has a premiere pet service center. However it is apparent that in the past several months they have suffered greatly. I was saddened last week to see the store empty of almost all supplies. The dedicated staff admitting that they are not being told what is happening. I will now have to buy supplies on line or drive a much greater distance to buy the essentials for my pets. It is apparent that the owners are either in great financial trouble or no longer care to continue this once top of the line business. Pros: Great caring, knowledgeable staff Cons: No items in stock more

They're great! 5/12/2006

I was looking for dog seatbelt strap and found one at another store for $8 more than at Fish Gallery. They're helped me get my cats on healthy weight loss diets and are keeping my growing puppy well feed and stocked with nutritious chews. These folks are great!! Pros: good hours, very knowledgable, they care Cons: hard to find 1st time more
