I was excited when I heard about new ""downtown lougne"" bars opneing up in PB, where a sea of greasy overly crowded beach bars have become the norm. Once we waited in line for 45 minutes, we got up to the door. I've never dealt with such rude and arrogant bouncers. We got in the door, and it wasn't overly croweded, but we had to wait in another line to get upstairs-We waited 45 minutes outside to wait inside of 1/2 hour!! They have a ton of flat panel TV's up, but not sure why-they were showing regular TV with a million commercials. When I pay $ for a drink, an overwhelimingly bright Jessica Simpson ad selling her acne stuff isn't exactly what I call pleasing. Should have chosen something better to focus more on the mood. The patio was nice and open, but the service was slow and they brought us the wrong bottle of wine and told us it was our fault. There was nothing ""Firehouse"" about it-no decor, and the staff wore grey t-shirts that they proabalby bought at Kmart and silk screened. It's not worth the hype, and maybe those greasy beach bum bars aren't so bad afterall. I won't be returning. If I want a downtown feel, I'll go downtown, where they know how to act and how to run a more updscale bar.
Pros: An ocean view from the patio
Cons: The bouncers, the service, the wait
