Firebirds will make your night good 12/10/2002

This place has one of the best atmosphere I have ever seen in a restaurant. The high ceilings, comfortable booths & chairs, the lighting, and layout of the restaurant all created a wonderful atmosphere that made my dinner enjoyable. The quality and taste of the food is fantastic and you will not be disapointed. The service is very prompt, courteous, and friendly. The waitstaff are eager to make the experience pleasurable for their customers. In addition, this place serves some of the strongest alcohol drinks I have seen in the few months I have lived in NC. They are strong and absolutely delicious! My favorite is the Delmonico steak. This place makes Outback Steak house look like an Australian brand of McDonald's. I have been to this restaurant twice and I am already looking forward for my next visit. Firebirds here I come! Pros: Atmoshphere!, Service!, Excellent Food Drinks Cons: no vegetarian dishes more

Turn a bad day into good 12/10/2002

*This restuarants atmosphere is very comfortable. *The waitstaff is right on top of things and extremely friendly every time I am there. *I used to like the outback steakhouse, but now I don't care to remember thier name. *The best part of this restaurant is they don't hold back on putting a little alcohol in thier drinks. Some places add 3/4 of a shot in a 2 gallon drink, not firebirds. *The price is not that of a burger joint, but my boyfriend knows if I am having a bad day, this is the place to take me turn my day around. Pros: amazing drinks, friendly waitstaff, yummy Cons: small wait, need more veggies more

Great Lunch Spot 11/20/2002

On weekdays, this is the best place in the triangle for a good burger, imho. The Pico Jack Burger is the bomb. Lunch on weekdays, instant seating. Avoid this place on weekends for lunch, as you may need to wait 30-45 minutes. more

Not too bad 10/27/2002

The wait was very long, but the service and food was above average. Atmosphere is very nice too--but I've eaten at places just as good without the looong wait (2 hours the night we went). Still would go back again if I was at Southpoint. Pros: Good service, Good food Cons: Crowded!!! more

For the love of Steak 10/4/2002

Surprisingly excellent steaks in a mall restaurant. The steaks are some of the best around. the Lobster Queso dip is also darn good. It is a little pricey, but worth it if you love steak. The inside is nice, and the service is good. They don't take reservations, you can't call ahead and get put on the waiting list, and the beepers to let you know whne your table is ready have a very limited range, so although there are stores nearby which would be ideal for shopping while waiting, one actually spends time just sitting and waiting. Pros: Steaks, location Cons: waiting, no reservations more

Best Steak EVER 9/24/2002

While in Durham on business my wife and I ate at the Firebirds Rocky Mountain Grill. We are from the White Mountains in Arizona and had never before taste a steak like the ones we did at Firebirds. The Filet Mignon was tender, juicy and tasted wonderful! It was the best meal I've had in a long time. Thank you! Pros: Excellent food, friendly service Cons: crowded, Little Expensive more

Rocky Mountain High 9/6/2002

Firebirds does an good job for a theme restaurant without the kitsch that many other theme eateries fall prey to. The steak, pork and fish-- although pricey-- are all done very well by a restaurant of this size and lineage. While not the equivalent of Splendido or Grouse Mountain Grill (true Rocky Mountain champions crowned by Zagat and my personal taste), Firebirds should be proud to offer this concept anywhere outside of the Vail Valley. One recommendation would be for the restaurant to accept reservations, and perhaps leave a section for walk-ins. Pros: Lodge Ambiance, Steaks, Other wood-fired food Cons: No Reservations, No Reservations, No Reservations more

Better Than You Think 8/24/2002

I've eaten at Ruth's Chris and Sullivans and loved both, but I have to say that Firebirds beats them both! The Delmonico steak is the best I have ever had. The atmosphere, understandably not as sophisticated as the others, is comfortably Rocky Mountain lodge. A great place for a casual date come winter time. I wouldn't go on the weekends - the crowd takes away from the romance, but its definitely a quiet weekday find. Follow it with a playful stroll around the mall and buy your love something fun. Pros: Best Steak Around, Warm and Comfortable, Great Value Cons: Weekends Too Busy, Not Sectioned Off, A Little Noisy more

Great Food and Service 7/26/2002

I was extremely delighted with the food and service. They have a lot of teamwork there which is great to have at restaurants and the food was top of the line! I had the salmon which was excellent and tasted the steak that my date was eating. more

Great Food - Expensive Average Wine 7/15/2002

Not your typical mall dining! Bads - long wait - below avg and expensive wine list. Goods - Great food - big portions - fun atmosphere - very friendly and helpful staff. Overall a must try for everyone, except those with young kids, but not a regular stop. Pros: great food, big portions, fun Cons: long wait, bad wine list, expensive wine list more

Great Burgers 7/12/2002

I always like my burgers medium rare. This is the first time that I've been able to have one in a resturant. Because they grind their own beef in the resturant. My friend had the pasta dish. That was good also. It was a new age white sauce with grilled chicken. I'd deffintally eat there again. more

Great Meat 7/11/2002

Went once on a weekday night - wait was much longer than suggested (over 2 hours) - good thing it's at the mall. Food and wine were very good (great selection), especially the prime rib. more

Bleh 7/2/2002

We've been to firebirds twice now, and both times we came away distinctly underwhelmed. The food was average ... nothing fantastic, nothing terrible. Probably a tad bit overpriced. Quite honestly, other than our nutty waitress (who we had both times), there was nothing memorable about this place. more

great date 6/17/2002

I went last Thursday night around 6:00 and was no wait. The service was excellent. We ordered filets Med Rare and they were perfect. The blue cheese dressing was one of the best things we tried. I will definitely head over there again, especially on a less busy night. more

not worth a return visit 6/12/2002

Though we received excellent service and the food was good (but only good), we were very disappointed in this restaurant. At this price and the long wait for a table, the food should be the best part of the experience, not the atmosphere or the nice waitress. There was nothing special enough to merit a return visit. Pros: service, atmosphere Cons: cost, average food, long wait more

Ho Hum 6/11/2002

Atmosphere was good, staff was very good, but the food below average. She had the Buffalo meatloaf which was good but I had the Filet which I ordered medium well and it came burnt, over cooked and tasteless. It was a Tuesday night and not super busy. Maybe I will try it agian but at this point would not recommend. Pros: staff Cons: food more
