Repeat Customer Happy Again! :) 4/19/2010

I have taken several pieces of furniture here for repair, including a very important, sentimental ottoman to my father's chair. Avi always does a great job for me which is why I keep going back even though I used to only know about his store in Santa Monica which is quite a drive from Silver Lake! I just found out about the Studio City location and so I brought my dining chairs here a week ago. A week later and they are super sturdy and look beautiful. Avi is always friendly and is great about getting back to me and making arrangements for drop off, pick up, and price. It's nice to know I have someone I can trust to take care of my Craigslist finds as well as pieces that have been in the family for years. Pros: professional, good quality work, friendly more

I have lived in LA for a long time and had driven past Finisher's Touch many times. I was looking for a local finisher to work on 6 antique dining chairs. I decided since the store had been there for a few years, I'd give them a try. I have to say it was a bit overwelming when I walked in because there was many pieces of furniture waiting to be worked on or ready to be picked up. Nevertheless, I left my chairs in Avi's hands. He said they would be ready in a couple of weeks and he would call me when they were finished. A week later he phoned and said they were ready. When I picked them up they were beautiful and done very professionally. I couldn't have been happier. Recently, I brought two pieces that I thought were not repairable. Avi was hesitant to take them and honestly told me the reasons why but he said he would try. A week later they were ready! He had worked on hand stitching leather with a broken hand! -Now that is customer service! The pieces look amazing. I will continue to go back and refer my clients to him! Pros: Honest and Professional Cons: a little pricey but worth it more

I was nervous to leave my broken stool after reading these reviews, but after meeting Avi and getting a very fair price for my repair I decided to leave my stool. He did an excellent job! He finished the repair in only a few days and you can barely tell it was ever broken. I would certainly take another piece of furniture for him to repair! Pros: Quick service, excellent craftsmanship more

Had an old and old-fashioned, wing chair upholstered. I specifically asked that the old fabric be removed. The chair came back with my fabric on top of the old. The fabric is not straight; the underneath of the chair is covered in flimsy dressmakers facing; where stitches should be, there are staples. I will have to have the chair re-done, by someone who knows his/her trade. A really, really BAD job. more

Unprofessional - no record-keeping of any kind - provided NO services & still has my furniture 9/15/2007

I needed to get two antiques reupholstered - an armchair & a small couch/settee. I picked some fabrics (w/out a price list) provided by Avi with the understanding that the he would get back to me with an estimate so I could confirm whether or not I wanted to use the fabrics. He couldn't even give a ballpark figure, took my furniture, then, over the phone, gave me a very high figure that I couldn't afford, when I asked to see some cheaper fabrics, he said he'd already ordered the fabrics and that now he stood to lose a lot of money. I was confused as to why he had gone ahead & ordered the fabric when he hadn't even prepared an estimate. Meanwhile, he had my furniture. Nothing was written down, which I complained about several times. I know I should have been more alert during all of this but I was getting my masters degree, working full time teaching and getting married so I wasn't as focused and proactive as I should have been. Finally I agreed to give him the sette (couch) if he would give me a break on the armchair. He agreed and didn't give me much of a break. Then I mailed the $100 deposit that he required in March. I had my wedding & graduation, when I got back in touch with him in July, he said he never got the deposit. So I was really fed up so I went to his shop to pick up the armchair. When I got there I saw that he had already stripped it of all the upholstery. All that was there was a wooden frame. No padding of any type. I asked him, ""If you didn't get the deposit, why did you strip the chair?? Why didn't you call & tell me you didn't receive the deposit?"" I checked my check register & I definitely sent it to him. The check was never cashed. This furniture was in my deceased mom's family for about 100 years. It is more sentimental than anything. Now it is gone. He has both the couch & the frame of the chair. I received nothing. \r \r If you choose to work with Avi, be sure to get everything in writing before you let him take your furniture!!! Pros: No pros. Cons: A terrible business man. more
