We were recommended to F&M Bank by a close personal friend. Looking back I wish we never would have dealt with this bank. Jean Beers at F&M is probably one of the most unprofessional people I have ever dealt with. The mortgage application was submitted with all information needed, and we didn't find out that they would not approve the loan from Jean herself, but rather but a generic letter from the company. We had spent a few days calling to see what the status was and she had never returned our call. She did tell the person who referred us that they would consider the mortgage with a co-signer.
After some time, we found a co-signer and resubmitted the application. We reminded Jean again of the urgency of this application, as a signed sales contract already exsisted. 3 days again went by and no communication from F&M. It seemed like all we got was voicemail and the run around. She was on another call, out of the office, on vacation, etc. Two weeks later (and two weeks prior to the scheduled closing date) Jean finally returned our calls. She wasn't able to help us afterall - but would reconsider with a different co-signer.
After the grueling process and lack of professionalism, even if we had a co-signer who was a sure thing, I would never go back to F&M Bank for anything, not even a checking account. It's sad that these banks get to treat customers the way they do and they call all the shots. I think that we should all be looking for this kind of job, where we can lie to customers and represent our company with such poor customer service and still keep our jobs!
