I had an appointment with Dr. Grear for some ongoing wrist pain I was having. The initial appointment was in October. I had an appointment at 2-230pm and I wasn't seen until about 330-4pm. He did not even look at me, knock on the door or wash his hands. He asked me very quick, yes or no answers. He did a quick exam with my fingers to see if i could resist some pressure. Sent me straight to x-ray. Waited another 20 minutes until he came in and told me i didnt break anything. Then he proceded to tell me what I already knew; that it was probably inflamed. prescribed me an antiflamm med. he didn't diagnose me with anything\r \r came back a month later for a follow up. waited almost 45 minutes after my appt time for him to see me for LITERALLY less than 5 minutes. I timed it on my phone. he came in again no knock, no hand washing. asked how i was doing, if the medicine worked, moved my fingers around and i said it was fine. he sent me on my way. \r \r i just got a billing statement from him and he charged $480 for both visits which accounted for about 30 minutes in total not including wait times. he had known that i was a nursing student so that should tell you right away that i cannot afford much. i'm left paying about $200 of this bill. FOR 30 MINUTES OF EXAM TIME. and not to mention, the poor attention and care he actually gave me. \r \r i have never felt so disregarded in care. it was as if i was just another billing statement. i guess that's true.\r \r the nursing staff is great. the x-ray tech was awesome but the doctor himself was just rude and didn't seem to genuinely care. I'll definitely be considering this experience when I become a nurse. We need our doctors but after this experience I'm starting to realize how horrible some doctors can be. more

I always always always have problems with this doctors office. Terrible customer service, they don't care about their patients. Every time I call for a prescription they put me on hold forever when I just need them to write it so that I can pick it up. It has been the same medicine i have taken every month for the last 9 years and they still cant seem to EVER find my paperwork. That means they have had 108 times to practice WRITING A NOTE FOR THE DOCTOR.\r They also leave me on hold every time for usually 18-20 minutes. I am typing this as I am on hold with this office.. it has now been 29 minutes on hold!!!!!!!!!! 29! unbelievable. more

Malpractice suit waiting to happen 4/5/2012

My 2 year old broke his leg and we were referred to their Orthopedic associates by the emergency room to have his cast put on. His pain was worse than in the splint after the rough application of the cast by the doctor and his ""nurse"" (the receptionist), and the water was squeezed out of the cast (putting direct pressure on his fracture). After calling the office for advice on his pain management and being told simply to ""elevate"" it, I searched for an Orthopedic specialist that could give us a second opinion on his cast. My gut said it was not done correctly, and it was just confirmed by another doctor. My baby was given a short leg cast for an injury that called for a long cast, and the cast was applied terribly resulting in the formation of blisters on his heel, ankle and foot. His cast has now been applied correctly elsewhere, and I will be filing a complaint with the medical board about Fahey Medical Center's Orthopedic practice. more

Horrible 10/14/2011

This place is a shame. An absolute wreck.\r more

Awful. Just awful. 8/29/2011

This place is ab-so-lute-ly terrible. Although this is not my only horror story from this place, its the most recent so here goes: I went in with serious back pain, and the doc ordered an xray. Got the xray later that day and they said 24-48 hours for results. NINE days and five phone calls and messages later, I get a call at 9:30 at night from a nurse who speaks broken English telling me there is no fracture. Only problem is the doctor told me the likely culprit was a herniated disc, not a fracture. So after calling back two more times asking for more info and NEVER hearing back again, I just cut my losses and went elsewhere. Oh and the average wait time for those 7 calls was about 20 minutes, and when I finally did get a hold of someone they were about as helpful as an umbrella during a hurricane. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE FOR CARE! more

DON'T EVEN CONSIDER /A WASTE OF TIME, EFFORT AND MONEY 11/9/2010

IF YOU DON'T MIND INCOMPETENT/POOR SERVICE ALONG WITH A GOOD DOSE OF PISSY/SHITTY ATTITUDE THEN THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU . I WASTED 4 TO 5 MONTHS THIS PAST YEAR WINTER/SPRING TRYING TO GET TREATMENT FOR BACK AND LEG PROBLEMS . IT TOOK OVER 2 MONTHS FOR MY PRIMARY TO START TO EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE MY COMPLAINTS . A BIZZARE JACKASS NAMED JOEL HAAS . I GUESS HE'S IN BOSTON NOW BEING A QUEER . EVENTUALLY I WAS SENT TO SEE A SO CALLED DOCTOR, KEITH KOMNICK . HE CONDUCTED HIMSELF LIKE A COMPLETE AND UTTER ASS-WIPE . NEVER ANY FOLLOW-UP, YOU HAVE CHASE THEM DOWN FOR EVERYTHING . I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO SWITCH NETWORK PROVIDERS AND PRIMARY DOCTOR . THANK GOD !!! WHAT A DIFFERENCE . THE STAFF LACKS A LOT TO BE DESIRED ALSO, TO SAY THE LEAST . IN MY OPINION, THEIR NOTHING BUT A BUNCH OF FRONTLINE HACKS FOR THE ""FOR PROFIT HEALTH CARE INDUSTRY"" . THEY GET TO MAKE ALOT OF MONEY DENYING YOU TREATMENT . more

Good care 3/14/2010

I went to Fahey Medical Center and specifically Dr. Graer after needing a second opinion for a broken bone. I read these reviews prior to my appointment and became concerned by the negative feedback (to the point that I nearly canceled my appointment). Now that I've been there twice, I have to say that I disagree with these negative reviews. Fahey's building is certainly old-school, but I was pleasantly surprised by my experience. The first time I went there, I had to wait for a half-hour or so. That said, Dr. Graer was a kind, thoughtful physician who was in no rush to get me to surgery, which seems to be the case with so many orthos. He also spent a fair amount of time with me, explaining what I could do to expedite my healing. A month later, I saw him for a follow up and didn't have any wait. Again, he spent an ample amount of time with me. He's a smart, experienced physician. more

poor customer service 10/20/2009

If you don't mind waiting on hold for 10 plus minutes and then treated with a horrible attitude by staff members that just can't seem to get it together or go the extra mile for you, then by all means, try your luck. The staff needs training or a new line of work. If you are patient and can advocate for yourself, you'll be fine. Routine medical services have been fine, it's just the support personnel that are bad. Pros: good for routine care Cons: terrible front office staff more

THE WORST ORTHOPEDIST IN THE WORLD 1/21/2009

I've been going to Fahey for years since my regular physician is there and although the staff is snippy I put up with it because I like my physician. I was referred to Dr. Grear through my HMO. The worst experience I ever had with a physician. He did not examine my knee, which was my main complaint, did not take any info from me, used medical jargon which I did not understand and then proceeded to decline sending me to physical therapy which had worked very well for me in the past. He gave me a stronger pain prescription (which was a generic that worked very poorly) and told me there wasn't much else to be done, which I know is not true. This guy had no interest in helping me. Will NEVER go back again. Cons: Bad bedside manner, bad attitude, no interest in helping patient. Nurse was rude. more

QUALITY AND FRIENDLY CARE!!!! 7/9/2008

I HAVE BEEN A PATIENT WITH FAHEY MEDICAL FOR 5 YEARS. THE STAFF ARE KIND AND CARING. I RECENTLY HAD A CHILD AND HAVE CHOSEN DR JOEL HASS TO BE HER PRIMARY PHYSICIAN, MY EXPECTIONS WERE SURPASSED! I WOULD NEVER THINK OF TAKING MY FAMILY ANYWHERE ELSE! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS FACILITY TO ANYONE WHO IS LOOKING FOR QUALITY CARE AND PERSONAL ATTENTION. Pros: KIND AND KNOWLEDGABLE STAFF AND DOCTOR more

Lousy Health Care! A Health Care Nightmare Stay Away!!!! Never return calls, wait on phone for hours!!! 7/3/2008

I hurt my foot during a softball game on a Sunday. I called to see if I could get my doctor to see it on Monday and only was able to have a NP see me. She let me go with two prescriptions, did not wrap my foot and told me to get some crutches and arch supports for my foot. She ordered some x-rays but I ended up waiting another 5 days before I received the referral to get the X-ray. Instead of taking care of my foot they ordered up some clinic tests, mammogram, and a physical.\r I received my referral finally by fax (not mail) on the Friday only because I had called and waited on hold for 20 minutes then argued with the referral desk. It wasn't coded ""Urgent"" so they didn't see why I was upset.\r I get X-rays on Saturday and am told the Radiologist will review them on Monday and my doctor should have them on Tuesday.\r I call today (Thursday) and am told there isn't anyone there at the office, only a couple of nurses. I have to leave a message. So far...nobody has called with the results from the X-ray. Is my foot broken??? Can you see anything on the X-ray??? I may never know the answers, meanwhile I am still limping. It has been 12 days now since I hurt my foot.\r Incredible.\r My dog had twisted his foot last summer. I took him to the Vet, got an exam, x-rays, medication and a follow up phone call with an appointment for a follow up exam, all within the same day. I would probably be taken to jail and charged with animal cruelty if I had just let my dog suffer!\r Don't ever go to this place ever!!!!!!!!\r \r Still limping... more

Fahey Medical 518 Golf Road 2/19/2008

Worst ever!! Limped in and was instantly treated with an attitude! I recommend a consultant to review the practice to figure out why a potential patient walked out the door! I came in from a Lutheran General referral, I was in a car wreck 5 days prior and bed-ridden for the 5 days. I was treated rudely after finding out I don't have a major med card not holding a hmo/ppo policy. I was not late, nor a nuisance to them. I phoned in the info from my auto insurance prior to the visit which covered my injuries. The med staff would not lift a finger for a resolution but show a careless attitude. I can't even tell you that the doctors are any good because I didn't see one! I feel the staff reflects the treatment provided. There is better elsewhere and I'd take a chance. I would not recommend the office due to a careless staff. A smile, understanding, and maybe an iota of compassion goes a long way. The customer/patient treatment is horrible. I feel if I was treated humane, I would have given my business to them. Instead, I kept my mouth shut and gave the review they deserve. Poor staff and a cold shoulder! Cons: Poor Staff more
