AWESOME! 4/9/2011

Best wine in portland! Awesome atmosphere. One person (and a dog) show, Beth the owner is super chill, down to earth, funny and friendly. Laid back but lively scene, would recommend to anyone (unless you want snobbery and over priced wine, you wont find it here). more

CHECK IT OUT - $5 glasses 11/16/2009

This place is great! I mean really, really great. Its mellow and easy. The bartender/owner Beth was helpful - and sarcastic and witty (LOVE!). Bottles are at least a few bucks cheaper than other wine shops in pdx. And the glasses are cheap - I think they range from $5 - $12. Where else can you drink good wine in Portland for that price? Every Day Wine is gonna get me through this recession, I can tell. Pros: delicious wine, fits my budget, awesome bartender more

buyer beware 8/14/2009

beware, the bins are labeled with reviews and points for vintages that are different than those on the shelf, same winery but very different bottles. when I asked why they did this, the owner told me she just didn't have time to change them but every, and I mean all of the postings were for vintages not on the shelf. she then told me that if I didn't like that I should not shop there. good bye Pros: good selection Cons: sketchy business practices more

needs a lesson on customer service 2/7/2009

I included EDW as the first stop for my fiance's birthday party last night. They have great tastings on Friday nights and you can bring your own food. I was in touch with the owner Beth about the party well in advance so that she would be aware of the larger group of people (~15 people). She was slightly resistant to me having a party on a tasting night but was agreeable. When we got to the bar/store last night several tables were open. When our friends started coming and we asked to grab more tables she rudely stated that she needed to save tables for ""other customers"". We are a group of professionals, with everyone except for 2 out of 15 not partaking in the tasting (1 had beer). She made another unnecesary rude comment at one other point in the evening, and was snippy when we asked if we could throw away a small bag of trash. When we left the store was nearly empty and during the hour and a half we were there a table was always empty. Unfortunately Beth, the 15 new CUSTOMERS I introduced to your establishment last night will not be coming back due to your rude behavior. We enjoyed the wine and your co-worker was extremely nice. Hopefully Beth can learn a few things from her and chill out. Pros: good tastings, good prices Cons: cranky owner more

You don't have to be a wine connoisseur to enjoy this place 11/21/2007

I know that I like wine and maybe a little more. I have never felt alienated by my lack of wine knowledge, instead, Beth (the owner) has taken the time to teach me a couple things about wine along the way. It has been great to enjoy the wonderful taste of wine in a relaxed atmosphere without the pretense so commonly associated with this wondering beverage. Pros: Relaxed, inviting atmosphere more

Perfect Neighborhood Place 3/30/2006

Everyday Wine has got it all! Great atmosphere, wonderful community, smoke-free, intriguing Art installations, a variety of wines and price levels, fabulous music shows and service with a great sense of humor. This is a place where locals hang out and new people are welcomed. On any given night, you'll find romantic couples, a group picnic, local neighbors sharing an impromptu meal. I know nothing about wine and the owner Beth, has been a wonderful, patient instructor. I always wanted to have a neighborhood hang-out where I'd be welcomed, and Everyday Wine is it! Pros: Friendly, Affordable, Porter more

My favorite wine bar 3/27/2006

I love this place. It's unpretentious, the Friday tastings are fun and informative, and I get great advice on different wines to try -- she hasn't steered me wrong yet. I always get a friendly greeting from the resident dog (and the owner too). How many places can you bring in your own cheese and crackers or a pizza and select from hundreds of wine options? This place is cool. A great addition to the neighborhood. Pros: Great advice, Porter, the dog more

pretty nice 3/26/2006

This is simply a great neighborhood wine bar. You can either (1) pick up a bottle to take home to dinner; (2) hunker down at a table and work on your dissertation; or (3) chat with your neighbors at the bar. If you don't know anything about wine, Beth will help you figure out what you like. Ask her what's open, or try anything on the shelf. What's not to love? No snobbery, plenty of sass, good music, and a cute dog. Pros: good food close by, interesting art Cons: a rare needy customer more

One of my favorite Portland hangouts 3/24/2006

Every Day Wine is a great, relaxed place to drink tasty, reasonably priced wine, talk to interesting people, meet old friends, or sit with your glass and read a book. In the last few years, this welcoming shop and wine bar has become a cornerstone of the Alberta Street experience, perfect for a pre-dinner glass, sharing a bottle with an intimate party, or enjoying a post-dessert nightcap. Join the regulars, a rotating gaggle of neighborhood artists, musicians, writers, office workers, laborers, entrepreneurs, and other smart, friendly people. Or be left alone with your glass of pinot and your book, in one of the storefront window nooks or at a plush chairs in the back. Last Thursdays and special musical events can also be quite festive and fun at the shop. Recommended. Pros: Quality of wine, Engaging clientele, Can bring food in Cons: Closed Sun & Mon more

Great customer service 3/23/2006

Beth, the owner, runs the place by herself and even on busy nights she can pour, sugguest and tell a few jokes all in the same breath. You won't find snobby waiters or $125 bottles of California Cabernet; what you will find is a great selection from Oregon, South America, Italy and France, great, individual service from the proprietor, and a relaxed, fun atmosphere. Bring in your own food and enjoy EDW! more

Disappointing 3/4/2006

I'll agree with good selection and nice dog - but customer service always leaves me not wanting to come back. It's so disappointing because I want it to be my favorite stop in my neighborhood! The three times I have been, the staff was never welcoming nor attentive... even with ordering politely and tipping +20%. Come on, is it that hard to be nice to customers? Pros: decent selection, easy parking Cons: unwelcoming staff, unconditioned room more

2 glasses a day keeps the MD away. 5/19/2004

When you first arrive at Every Day Wine, Porter, the proprieter's friendly dog, will meet you at the door. Not far behind him will be Beth, the wise-cracking, fun-loving owner from Chicago. To your left are all the bottles of wine to choose from. To your right is the bar where you can mingle with others who like wine--not because they are snobs, but because wine tastes good. For those that aren't wine drinkers yet, Beth also offers bottled beer. If you are there with friends, tables are situated throughout the bar, and even outside if the weather is agreeable. The wonderful thing about Every Day Wine is that you can choose to buy the whole bottle, or just have it opened and have 1 or 2 glasses. The prices are reasonable, and the atmosphere is always fun. Pros: Friendly, Great Selection, reasonable prices Cons: , street parking more
