European Master Tailor

Before Saks Fifth Avenue closed their Portland location, I used to have their in-store tailor take care of alterations on newly bought suits. Right before the store closed, I decided to take in a few older suits to the same tailor only to be turned down because he was slammed and not accepting any additional alterations before store closure. I asked him what in the world was I to do, and that's when he whispered Silvian's shop name. I promptly went to meet Silvian who inspected my suits (of various styles) and said he would have no problems with my requested alterations. I am 6 feet tall with narrow hips and broad shoulders, so majority of my dressy clothes need to be tailored to my frame. My wife came with me and we all hit it off with Silvian. When I picked up my suits, the results were amazing, everything fit me just right and I could finally make use of my old suits. Since then, Silvian has been my go-to tailor for suits, dress shirts, coats, you name it. My brothers have taken their suits to him during the last couple years and are looking sharp. Would strongly recommend Silvian as someone skilled in his craft. I hope he doesn't plan to retire anytime soon because then I'll really be in trouble... more

I have been a loyal client of Silvian for several years and don't even know where to begin on the praises. This guy really knows his stuff, A through Z! Over the years, I have taken everything to Silvian - from a dress that needed to be lengthened creatively to a complicated tear in my fur coat to a leather strap that was falling apart on my purse. I have brought a few family and friends to Silvian's shop and haven't heard any complaints. I trust him with all of my garments, cheap and expensive! The best part about working with Silvian is that he really understands what I want and delivers flawlessly. Don't mean to use flowery words but I just can't say enough good things about this guy! I definitely recommend Silvian to anyone searching for a trustworthy tailor who wouldn't screw up a garment. Silvian really takes his job seriously and deserves what he charges. I have worked with a few other tailors in the past but have never experienced 100% satisfaction when I picked up my items, but somehow, Silvian gets it right every time! I took my leather jacket in to have the the cuffs, collar and waistband repaired that had deteriorated over 20 years. Not only did Sylvian repair the jacket immaculately, blending his work in with the original design, but he made it better than it ever was! I'm rather tall, with long arms and he must have taken note of that, because he made the sleeves a scoatch longer - absolutely perfect length now. I couldn't be more pleased. In addition to being a fantastic artist in the work he does, his customer service skills excel! One of the nicest people I've had the pleasure to do business with. \r \r I had expected to pay a premium for this work and was bowled over by the incredibly reasonable price. I'll be taking all of my work to him as well as referring him to anyone that needs someone with his talent. more

Sylvian is an incredible tailor and a true gentleman. I call him ""The Surgeon"". If a garment can be fixed, he can fix it. If it cannot be fixed, he'll be the first to let you know. I've been searching for a ""go to"" tailor for three years now since moving to Portland, and haven't found anyone I would recommend until now. I am very picky about what I expect from a tailor and trust my high end suits to virtually no one. After spending twenty minutes talking to Sylvian, I knew before he even made a stitch, my suits were in good hands. Sylvian completes his work on time (rare for most tailors) and has a sartorial eye for how clothes should fit. Drop by his shop anytime and you'll see him salvaging garments that were previously slaughtered by other tailors. Go see him, you won't be disappointed.
