I was just realeased this morning from Erlanger Hospital on 975 E third Street, Chattanoooga. I went to the ER last night with Chest pain. I was scared, in a new town and in pain. My first impression was, ""filthy"". The floors look like a gas station bathroom. Walls and windows were covered in grime and seriously the staff in the waiting room didnt look much better kept! The staff in the triage and waiting room area were amoung the most rude people I have ever seen in my life. They were not rude to me because I sat in the corner and suffered in agony in silence. I watched and heard the staff being openly and loudly disrespectful to several waiting patients. They also dont seem to understand meaning of patient confidentiality or just patient privacy. Several very ill people (I counted 7 or 8!) left the ER untreated and/or un triaged because of the long wait. I waited for 4 hours and would have left myself but I was scared that I was having a heart attack!\r
Once I was finally called to the back, the doctors were very thorough and I feel like I got good medical care from the resident doctor and attending doctors, however the nursing staff was horrible! They are so rude! Some of them obviously hate their job and should look elswhere for a career! I dont know how the physicians tolerate this! My room in the back of the ER was equally as disgusting as the waiting room. Filth! A mop and some bleach would have done wonders! Dont hospitals have to pass some kind of cleanliness and sanitary requirements? I feel like I got the medical care I needed after a much too long wait, but I am not sure I will ever go back to that place! At least not the Emergency Department!
