The Communication Disorders department at Emerson is excellent. The facilities are less than 10 years old, the faculty is tremendous, and the range of placement possibilities are very wide. When I was applying to Masters programs, other schools told me about how great their research was and so on, but at Emerson, I was told that the primary focus is on the students, especially at the masters level. Additionally, students are encouraged to work together as much as possible in most classes, which is great preparation for the real world.
The only minor drawback is that there is more focus on child language disorders than on adults. I was able to create my own class to study more adult language disorders, however.
Emerson is an arts and communications college for undergrad, so you may not think of it for communication disorders, but it really is first rate.
