This Elks lodge has been a support to Boy Scout troop 302 for at least 8 years. Each year they give one scout a scholarship, the troop an opportunity to make money on a spaghetti dinner, and credit for roadside clean up. For the most part, Elks are generally retired people. They have a roadside they adopted to clean. Utilizing this troop each year to keep this area clean is a good way to teach these boys community service. But this lodge takes it a step further and thanks the boys with a BBQ lunch. The lodge is on the water which makes the setting quite beautiful. This lodge also teaches the boys about civics and has them in for flag ceremonies now and then. Lodge 2522 is a solid sponsor of Troop 302. Good work.
