El Chico is not southern nor Mexican and not a chain restaurant 7/24/2007

El Chico is primarily a bar with a restaurant. The prices are very modst with such features as chicken wings for 25 cents each (should I say come on instead of "feture?"). We found the food to be quite good and expect to return. My wife's eggplant parmagiana was excellent. My fried shrimp were rather ordinary. Best, Terry. Pros: Modest prices, generally well cooked, large menu Cons: hey, it's a bar more

and I'm glad. They have the best home made Italian food there is and gigantic servings. Great service, friendly local crowd. I always meet a new friend. The cube steak sandwich is the most tender you will ever find. I'm from out of town so whenever I go there I try to eat everything on the menu. Pros: friendly crowd, good service, great food Cons: none more

  • In Short
This Southern chain serves Tex-Mex and Mexican staples to large groups and families who come to gab over unlimited chips and hearty food staples. The Southwestern decor features bright colored walls and thick terracotta-tiled floors. Classic El Chico combinations, around since the company started in 1940, heap tamales, cheese enchiladas and refried beans on one plate. Tex-Mex items represent tastes for fajitas, soft tacos and enchiladas verde.
