I would never go and see Dr Edwards iii again !He was totally disrespectful rude and made sure I knew my age !!! Giving me a pap smear is a waist of time because I had a partial Hysterectomy 24 years ago and I have to say up tell last week I always gotten every year a pap smear !I also wanted to talk to him about menopause how to Handel in a natural way without meds could not talk to him what he just did is told me my age and said woman start menopause between 47-49 and yes I was in it !!Well I have girlfriends who went into menopause with 40 and some went into it with 55 !! So his statement was incorrect !! I would never trust a Dr like that who is not willing to take his time ! I was a first time patient !! I am so glad he was not my doctor 24 years ago !!I had cancer cells that is why I had a partial Hysterectomy !! He never even ask me why I had one !! He just decided it was a waist of his time to give me one !!!! more

I could not have had a better experience than I did with Dr. Joe Edwards. My office visits were always quick and to the point. I was never there more than 15-30 minutes! ever! I absolutely adored his staff and when I called with questions, Karen (wonderful) always called back fast and with an answer and solution to any concern. Dr. Edwards suggested I have a C-section because he predicted I was having a big baby that hadn't dropped yet. Being my first pregnancy, I am so thankful he recommended that because my baby was over 9 lbs! :) My delivery was perfect and we actually had fun in the operating room with all the nurses and the radio on. The incision is very clean and small. I could always depend on him to be honest with me from start to finish. Thank you Dr. Edwards for a wonderful experience and delivering a sweet healthy baby boy!!! Best Dr. in Savannah! more

I can easily say BEST DOCTOR EVER, without hesitation. Dr. Joe Edwards III has seen me through a high risk pregnancy and now a laparoscopic hysterectomy. He is very knowledgeable, as is his nurse Karen, together over the last 15 years they have assisted me in all areas of my healthcare. Do nurses really stay in one place that long? She does !! He is always compassionate, yet straight forward which I appreciate. I would never see anyone else, I Love Dr. Joe and Karen !! more

Best doctor ever! He delivered my second child only a week ago. My first labor had been with another physician and was a horrific ordeal including pushing for 3 hours, exhaustion, and lots of dry heaving from said exhaustion. With drEdwards' c-section delivery last week, it was the complete opposite! He closed every layer, was quick and confident, and after a week, I feel virtually no pain. I was released from the hospital in 48 hours. (That's the same length of time it took for the first labor, which was vaginal) I also felt no need for pain medication 4 days after the surgery. The hardest part of healing is remembering that I just had major surgery and not trying to do all of the things I would have done prior to the surgery. If you're looking for a fantastic physician, go to dr joe Edwards! I was very pleased! more

Sometimes we need to take a step back and look at things from a diffrent light. The night I went into labor there were at least 3 other people just on my floor that were also using Dr. Edwards and he was doing his best bouncing back and forth taking care of all of us! Ever think that he is so busy b/c he is a great DR? He doesn't make a fuss when there is nothing to fuss over. I have used another Dr. in the past and if you want bad ""service"" you can go use them. I really like have Dr. Edwards and he is a no BS type. There should be more like him. more

I honestly can't believe that anyone would say that Dr. Joe Edwards is anything but an amazing & caring doctor. I have had many surgeries over the past 20 years that left my abdomen full of adhesions & scar tissue. I have a very long midline incision & didn't want to be cut again because the more you are cut, the more adhesions you develop. My previous Ob/Gyn said that I would have to be cut in order to clean out the adhesions & scar tissue. I just wasnt comfortable with this & a good friend of mine suggested I get a second opinion from Dr. Edwards. His office staff was very kind & prompt in getting me in to see him, as I was already on the books to have surgery with my former doctor. Dr. Joe promised me that he could do the surgery laparoscopicly & would not cut me. If you think that this was arrogant, then so be it. To me it was a very confident & caring physician telling me what he was going to do for me. And he did exactly what he said he would do. My surgery went off without a hitch & I went home the next day. The pain was minimal & the pictures that were taken during surgery showed exactly what he had to deal with. And deal with it he did. He completely cleaned out the mess that was in my abdominal cavity. I have been pain free for over 3 years now. I highly recommend Dr. Edwards to anyone who has issues with pain due to adhesions & scar tissue. I trust him with everything in me. He was truly a Godsend to me. more

I completly disagree with the other comments on Dr. Edwards and his office. I have been seeing Dr. Edwards for over 7 years now and he is WONDERFUL. Yes he tells it like it is, but I would rather him do that than ignore me. I had twins EXTREMLY early and he was always there for me to answer any questions I had. He was NOT on call the night I had my babies (on a weekend no less) and he came in anyway. His EXACT words were ""I coudn't let my girl go through this without me"". And NO I do not know him personally. He is the BEST OB/GYN I have ever went to. I went to another doctor for MANY years before coming to Dr. Edwards. I kept telling the other Doctor of some pain that I was experiencing and he kept telling me nothing was wrong and he couldn't do anything for me. The first time I saw Dr. Edwards he told me what he thought it was and performed surgery immediatly. He was correct in his diagnosis and I have been pain free for 6 years. Also, my sister in law lost a baby and here doctor also didn't give her the time of day. She heard great things about Dr. Edwards, went to him and he diagnosed her problem immediatly. If it had not been diagnosed, she would have lost every baby afterward (as it was due to oxygen levels once the baby got to a certain stage). Dr. Edwards watched her closely and now I have a healthy 5 year old nephew. Dr. Edwards may be blunt but he is THE BEST in my book and he TRULY does care about his patients. I have been told by many other doctors that for high risk pregnancies he is the go to doctor. So my advice, if you don't have a doctor that you already really trust and like, give him a try....he's the BEST! more

I agree with the previous review. This place is so overbooked with patients that you often wait 2-3 hours even with an appointment you set the month before. I saw Dr. Jackson and it was like he was in a rush to get you out. My husband and I had a concern about a genetic condition that my husband had and he told me had looked it up and said there was nothing to worry about. Boy was he wrong. I am now at Savannah Perinatology and a geneticist. . We were told there were several things he should have been looking for early on in the pregnancy which he did not. Also, BEWARE of their billing department. Check your bill carefully. I was improperly billed several times because they added in ""extra codes"" for things that were never discussed with us so they could collect a copay and get paid from my insurance company at the same time. After I contacted my insurance company it turned out they had put things such as ""poor fetal growth"" or ""fetal abnormalities"" in additon to codes when I just had a normal office visit where he told my husband and myself there was nothing to worry about and I was fine. So if your insurance would normally pay the full fee for a prenatal office visit and you normally would not pay a copay, because of these codes you would. I had to call my insurance company and they were as suprised as I was as to what codes they sent in, as most people won't see these on their explination of benefits from their insurance company. You would have to actually call the company or their office and ask exactly what codes they used. Imagine when I pressed them as to why these codes were used and I wanted to speak to the doctor personally, I was then called back 10 minutes laterand told that they would refund me the copays I had paid and ""write off"" the bills for additonal copays they were improperly billing me for. Good luck trying to get them to call you back when you need to speak to the doctor or nurse. Beware! more

It seems that Dr. Edwards III is more concerned with making a quick buck than worrying about his patients. I was in there a few weeks ago and he actually answered his cell phone while he was inside of me doing my gynecological exam. Now, I've been waiting almost 5 hours for his nurse to call me back. She (Karen) called and left a message for me to call her back...and I can't get her to pick up the phone. I have called 7 times and have been on hold from 9 minutes to 18 minutes. Pros: Covered by my insurance Cons: no bedside manner, incompetent office staff, feels like a cattle ranch. more
