Very good overall with some potential for improvement. 11/11/2015

Overall, it's been a good experience. There is some room for improvement regarding communication and staff continuity, although this can be expected in a center like this. We've been with them for four or five months. They have a convenient location and we really like their hours of operation. Overall, it has been a good and positive experience with the teachers and staff in addition to the strong curriculum. I recommend them. more

Satisfied parent! 10/29/2015

The people at Educational Playcare are very nice, very open with you, and very willing to communicate with you. The Tadpoles app is great (when they use it), and it shows you pictures of your kids throughout the day. It's nice to see what they're doing. Any time you have a question or an issue, they are willing to work with you. Now that she's in the preschool room, things are a little different and that's why I gave them 4/5 stars. I understand that it's 10 children to one teacher but when I pick her up she's filthy, wet, and her hair's not done. She'll come home with paint on her shirt and face, and I wonder why she didn't have a smock on. I get that she's 3 and she's probably playing with the other kids, but I came from a daycare where If she was wet or dirty they would change her shirt; if her hair was all messed up, they would have her come over and get it fixed. The kids are perfectly well cared-for, but I wish they would pay more attention to things like that. Now that she is in the other room the Tadpole reports are not as thorough. She's there all day and I'm not with her, so if I can't catch a teacher I don't know what happened during the day. I asked that she be up from her nap at 2:30 but I'm hearing that she wasn't up until 3. It wasn't so bad when the Tadpole stuff was complete, but now that it's not complete I wish the communication was a little better. They do have a new communication board online, so I will probably use that to speak with them in the future. They really know your kid. When you walk in, you can tell they really love your child. They know who my daughter is by name, her personality, what she likes- they know all about her. Their prices are fine; they are comparable to what we were paying when we lived in Cromwell. It's not the cheapest one out there, but it is well worth it. They also provide lunches so that makes it more worth it for me, and it's nice that I don't have to worry about packing lunches. When I have lunch with my daughter now she'll eat salad because they give it to her in daycare. The kids are exposed to more foods and that's great. We're pretty happy with Educational Playcare. Overall, it is a great place for my daughter and I would recommend them. My daughter loves it there, so at the end of the day as long as she's happy I'm ok with it. more

Our baby is happy there! 10/12/2015

The teachers at Educational Playcare seem to be very friendly. The environment seems familiar and caring and most importantly, our kid is happy there! I like the Tadpole service they offer; they send us pictures during the day which is helpful and makes us comfortable. Our baby is happy there, they do a lot of activities and really seem to allow children to develop on on their own schedule and time. Everything has worked out really well! more

Excellent communication. 10/5/2015

I love the emails that Educational Playcare sends. They allow me to feel connected to the program and my son. My two year old is enrolled with them, and thanks to their daily curriculum emails I can ask him specific questions about his day. I know what he is learning and I can show an interest in it, even though he is very young. Every Sunday I can read the curriculum email for the week, which shows what all the classes will be learning and what the weekly objectives are. Their communication is very impressive. I love the educational aspect of the education, and I believe it has made an impact. more

Very, very good 9/28/2015

My son has been going to Educational Playcare for the past three months and I could see a lot of positive changes in his behavior compared to when he was going to a different school before. He's talking well now, doing everything on his own, and even mingling with the other kids. I can tell that my son is really enjoying the school and is learning a lot of things. He is very happy to go there and I really enjoy them as well. more

Top-notch childcare environment and teachers. 8/12/2015

I had two small children, both who started attending the program as infants, around 4 or 5 months old. They've grown up in the system, so to speak. Both of my girls have thrived. They have been in enriching, loving classrooms with really great teachers, who really do teach them. They're not just getting their needs met. They're learning a lot. They have a curriculum that exposes them to things that early childhood programs generally do not offer. The directors are top-notch. The facilities are clean and really set up appropriately so the environment they're in is stimulating and age appropriate. My experience has been positive. My kids enjoy going there. They've never cried or been upset. They're always happy and that's really the true testament to me, my kids' reaction to going there. more

Great daycare! 8/11/2015

We've been with Educational Playcare since January, and we like them! I don't worry about dropping my kids off there. There's a good ratio of adults to kids, and it's clean. I haven't had any concerns so far. more

Happy baby, happy mom! 8/10/2015

Educational Playcare is a very nurturing environment for my son. I love that everybody seems to know his name and personality, and genuinely care about him. He seems to really have a good day there! They communicate frequently, and send me pictures throughout the day. The staff are always happy to address questions or concerns, and are very responsive. more

Professional Daycare. 8/4/2015

We have been using the services of Educational Playcare for about a year and have nothing but good things to say about them from our first interactions onward. Libby, who we chatted with, did a great job both interacting with me, my son, and my daughter. We have had no miscommunications, they are always on time, and very professional. I would recommend Educational Playcare to anybody looking for a professional daycare service with no gimmicks. more

Excellent 9/25/2014

Educational Playcare takes care of my two and a half year old and five month old. Their customer service is excellent and I like the curriculum. They give detailed descriptions of it and you can tell a lot of thought went into what the kids do throughout the day. It's been sort of tricky since they're in the middle of constructing a new addition and it could run a little smoother during this transition time. However, I think they do an excellent job communicating with the parents and keeping us informed with what our kids do throughout the day and any other notifications you need to know regarding programs. more

Wonderful learning and enrichment environment for children. 9/17/2014

I have been using Educational Playcare for about four years now, and they provide an excellent service. If you are unsure of what kind of service they provide, I would describe them as a daycare, except better. They are NAEYC accredited, which is very important for a child's early educational development. They have a lot of activities for the kids, many of which tie into the educational components of their program. They have provided care for my four and a half year old, who attended from four months old to three and a half years, and now my one year old attends their program. They have a very nice outdoor center, and on occasion, they have a very big bounce house set for the kids. I wouldn't take my kids anywhere else. I have already recommended Educational Playcare to many of my friends. more

There name says it all. Educational and fun. 8/29/2014

Educational Playcare recently look over the facility where my 2 year and 5 month old daughters attend. I am a little hesitant on giving a critical review on them, because we haven't been with them very long, and they are in a transitional period as they undergo renovations from the change in ownership. They're promising some great stuff a few months down the line, so I'll see how that goes. I rated them overall as a 4, because they are currently dealing with limited space, but the staff is very friendly, and I'm impressed by some of the new toys and materials they've brought in. There are some new faces among the staff, but there was also some turnover. They keep my girls socializing, busy and learning everyday. There are the usual amount of kids playing in their center, as far as day cares go. My daughters don't conflict with the other kids that go there, but you'd hope not to expect trouble with their age range. I would recommend them. more

Overall positive with room for improvement 8/28/2014

Our daughter's daycare was going under and Educational Playcare came in to take over the daycare so they're now our daycare provider. I think the curriculum is very age-appropriate and they're very hands-on and interactive with my daughter's age-group. They're really helping her to socialize with her peers and develop mentally. They're very nice but the communication is sometimes lacking. Things are not always clear or we don't hear about things until late or, what I consider, last minute. It might be because they have multiple sites and it takes a while to get all the information consistent. They are a new site so they're possibly still in the learning phase. more

My daughter is happy 8/22/2014

My daughter is very happy at Educational Playcare, and so we are too. They have always answered all my questions, and the teachers are very attentive and loving. I have already recommended them to several people. Go on a tour and check them out. I feel that they are genuinely interested in the well-being of my child. more

Love Noah's Ark! 7/13/2010

I love this center. My son has been at Noah's Ark for 10 months now. There are huge differences between Noah's Ark and the center he was enrolled in before. Noah's Ark seems to be more of a learning Center than just a place that provides individuals to watch over your kids. They have curriculums for the kids no matter what age group. My son is two years old and is very advanced. I love the way they teach the kids to be independent. They have meal time and each kid sits at their chair, they wash their hands after lunch and throw their papertowels away themselves. They are taught to say Please and Thank you. Just refreshing to know that I could send my child to a place where I know he will be well taken care of and will be learning new things everyday. I highly recommend Noah's Ark. And the reason the director does not return calls is not becasue she is rude. It's simply because Noah's Ark is in high demand. There are many many people trying to enroll their kids in this center. I was ver more

Warm and caring 2/5/2010

Having read some of the reviews , and an employee at Noahs Ark for 17 years(most staff have been here at least 10 years) and have had a child of my own at the school with another one on his way. I* strongly disagree with the turnover rate. We are very proud of our stability at the Ark. As far as allergies, Susan the Director, has been nothing but very sensitive to each and every child and their unique situation. Noahs ark is a warm, and caring program. highly recommend more

Susan the Director does not return phone calls 2/2/2010

First impression - I am definitely not impressed. \r \r I called there to try to set up an appointment with Susan, the Director. I told her when I would be in the area, and that I hoped to stop by around that time give or take a couple hours. You would figure that in this economy if someone calls to say "Hi, I am considering giving you business" the person would be at least slightly receptive. Not so with this Susan lady. She called back the day AFTER I said I would be in the area. How professional. \r \r The funny thing is, Susan (the Director) had done the same thing to several other people I know. My friend warned me that she doesn't call back, but I thought maybe it was just a fluke (who is really that rude to prospective clients?) But it wasn't. \r \r Sorry but when the Director of a childcare center can't find time in a 24+ hour period to return my phone call, I figure the decision is made for me - no thanks! more

Fantastic 12/12/2009

My daughter has been at Noah's Ark for about 6 months now - and one of the first days there was an open house. I found that by in large (I'd guess 90-95%) of the staff had been with the day care for over 5 years! Many of the teachers over 10! Nothing is perfect - Noah's Ark is absolutely close!! The teachers seem to really care about what they do - and my daughter has truly learned so much there already! I'm a big fan (obviously). more

Noah's 12/4/2008

When I went to Noah's, about 17 years ago, when they were in east hampton.. they were a good daycare. I still have really good memories of that place! more

childcare 6/25/2006

The only thing that I like about this childcare facility is that it has a fenced in area so that the kids can run around and play outside when the New England weather permits it. I did not like the fact that every couple of weeks there were new faces that I had to be introduced to. more

Owner Message
  • Today, the importance of positive childhood experiences, starting from infancy, and their relation to future success in life is universally understood. It wasn't so when we began in 1986. When we originally selected the name "Educational Playcare", it was because of our understanding of the importance of play in order for learning to take place. We also knew the importance of providing a nurturing, secure, joyful and stimulating environment. Children learn best through direct experience. We believe that this direct experience is best gained through play, for play is the work of children. It is through play that children develop concepts about themselves and the world around them. Our goal is to provide the ideal environment to support the "work" of children. Educational Playcare was established in 1986 to provide full and part-time childcare and educational programs for children from 6 weeks to 12 years old. We are proud of our reputation as the provider of the highest-quality childcare, nursery school, and preschool programs for children that can be found anywhere. We've distinguished ourselves by providing exceptional services through being consistently at the cutting edge of technology as it applies to the early childhood industry and we've maintained these high standards with the quality control that comes from being owner operated. Despite our relatively small size, however, we are still able to offer all of the benefits of the large "corporate" child care centers and more! It has been our privilege to provide childcare services to thousands of families in Connecticut. In fact, some of our previous students have come back to work for us and help nurture the next generation!. Full and part time educational childcare programs for children from 6 weeks to 12 years old.
